Choosing optimal new CPU
|
Hi everyone!
The time has come. I'm going to upgrade my extremelly old laptop (i5-3210M, Nvidia GT 650M, 8Gb DDR3).
Spoiler
And yeah i still can play PoE in 2023 on this machine)
New PC will include Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti. So i want to know, what kind of CPU is better for PoE? 1. Ryzen 7800X3D (8 cores, L3 cache 96Mb) 2. Core i7-13700K (8 x P-Cores + 8 x E-Cores, L3 cache 30Mb) And of course i'm asking about performance in juiced maps/delirium/blighted maps and so on, not about FPS in hideout) Last bumped on Oct 17, 2023, 6:53:54 PM

Nobody can say what the performance will be like for you. PoE is a beast that works very differently for everyone even with similar specs.
Be aware though, intel users very often have a problem with multi threading where the graph goes insane and the stutter is unbearable. It's kind of a bug or broken interaction or whatever that is present for a few years now probably. It seems to be affecting intel users more often. I had intel myself and had this problem, ryzen seems to be working fine in this department / no stutter (for now...). Both procs seems fine but who know what will be more stable. New mute system is terrible - no trade... Last edited by y3lw0rC#4020 on Oct 12, 2023, 3:01:24 AM

Honestly, if you can play PoE without crashing I wouldn't upgrade, I don't know why but playing it with a 3080 and I9 12900K I crash frequently, and there have been more people frequently crashing with both high to low-end setups, and if I were you with it running PoE even if the performance is not top tier I would stick with that very system because you know it is working.
When you upgrade you have no idea whether your 4090 or 4080 or 4070, or whatever other GPU or CPU combo you have if can actually run the game properly without crashing if it works it works, so I recommend just sticking with your current system over risking upgrading, and then the game not working properly because the game files are scuffed, and the new game engine sucks. Especially if it is only to play PoE do not upgrade if it works my I9 12900k with 3080 = frequent crashes even though this setup is better / more expensive than what most people have. Hello guys.
