Shaper Scorching Ray Microtransaction Game Crash

Hey guys, Been messing around with different builds and wanted to give a TOTEM Scorching Ray build a go.
I own the Shaper Scorching Ray Microtransaction and wanted to put that to use as it seemed like it was going be fun running around blasting multiple shaper beams. However once I got to the point where I had more than one totem accessible to be placed I noticed the game would do some random crashing. The crash would involve an immediate freeze and crash to desktop without any error message or any debug information. If the game is run in Administrative mode active it will freeze up and cause stuttering for about 3 seconds then crash. However no error or crash report was available for me to look at. This would happen at random intervals and at the time I was not sure if it was something I was doing or if the servers were having issues. I have it the benefit and tried a different day to have the same issue happen. I went back to my old build and had no crashes while playing, which led me to believe that something on my Totem character was causing the crash. I tried all the rendering options (Vulkin is what I normally use) but had the same issue when playing the totem character. I have also tried to lower ALL graphical settings to no avail. I had the random thought that it could be a Microtransaction causing a graphical overload causing the game to crash, so I unequipped all the Microtransactions and ran through the entirety of act 2 without a single crash. Awesome I have narrowed it down. I then slowly but surely readded every microtransaction I had put on, one by one and ran through an instance in act 2 (which happen to crash more often) for about 10 mins each microtransaction. I had no crash until I equipped the "Shaper Scorching Ray" to my spell totem. After about 5-10 mins I had my first crash. So I took everything off and only used the Shaper Scorching Ray and it crashed again. I am able to replicate the crash every time when that is equipped to my spell totem (Specifically Spell totem support, trying to level up so I can test it with Soul Mantle when I get it). The crash would appear to occur faster the more totems are active blasting the skill. I am able to play perfectly fine without the Shaper Scorching Ray equipped and I am even also able to self cast it without any crash. My analysis would be that overlapping of the shaper beams from more than one totem are causing an overflow on the renderer, that just causes an instant crash to desktop. So until this gets fixed, if anyone is running any TOTEM build that has a Microtransaction assigned to the skill they are using and you happen to be crashing randomly, try removing the effect and see if its causing an issue. GGG, let me know if you require any information from my end. Happy to provide imagery and possibly video footage of my main display showing the crash happening in real time. Update 1.
I have done some more testing. Currently in mapping and have been very successful with no crashing at all with the Microtransaction (MX) unequipped. Currently running Soul Mantle and Viridi's Veil and have all MX's equipped except for Shaper Scorching Ray. Decided to put it on and run maps until it crashes. I was able to get about 10 mins of gameplay in low tier white maps without any issue (currently blasting away at 5 totems with scorching ray). I even ran a expedition that actually lagged my system but thankfully the dynamic resolution kept it playable. While running my 2nd white map with the Shaper Scorching Ray equipped I have my crash. Seems to be and issue specifically with multiple totems with the MX equipped. I am going to see if I have any other Skill MX I can test with Spell Totem to see if its possible to replicate it with another skill or if its isolated to scorching ray specifically. |
