Mute bell tower sound

The bell tower sound that implies how badly things are going gets really annoying over time. Please add an option to mute the sound. I know there are ways to mitigate things:
- Move away from the portal device
- Use the setting that mutes the game (except for whispers) while not focused
- Get inside the map right away, leaving me unavailable for trading
- The map device can be disabled by activating a new map and removing it right away. This risks activating a map when you don't really want to.

Other changes that could help the situation
- Cause the alarm to trigger on deaths only, instead of on using portals to put items in inventory
- Cause the volume to be affected by the ambient volume slider instead of the sound effects volume slider. I cannot afford to turn off sound effects, but I already have the ambient volume on 0, so that would solve the problem.

Any other idea's?
