trauma support / viper strike / varunastra

As the title says equiping varunastra should allow the player to use any mellee strike skill regardless of weapon type with trauma support but that is not the case with viper strike.

This isn't true. Trauma Support doesn't have a weapon requirement, it has a limitation on what weapon types abilities supported by it are able to be used by. There is a difference. Technically Trauma Support should be able to support any "Melee strike skills that do not inherently apply Trauma," to include Viper Strike; and when supporting Viper Strike it should simply cause it to be unusable, since it's being given a requirement that's impossible to satisfy... except through the use of Varunastra.

I came searching for a resolution to why viper strike and trauma are not working together and found this thread. I'm incredibly disappointed by the fact that they're not working together. All of the wording of everything involved very clearly and distinctly indicates how they work, as usual with PoE, and that they should work... but they're just not; This is absolutely a bug.

Trauma support is simply unable to support Viper Strike straight from the inventory, regardless of anything else equipped or not equipped. It's rules are not even given a chance to be bent through the use of further game mechanics. If everything in this game worked that way then an incredibly large number of interactions wouldn't work.
