Is determination still good?

I'm a returning player who didnt follow updates.

Is determination still the best defence gem?

I was playing back when determination and grace were pretty much mandatory

Depends on build and player and game mode. For example: If you got lots phys-taken-as then 'Grace' may be better. But yes its still good.

determination gets better with phys taken as due to the way armor scaling works

The percentage of phys that gets removed gets better if phys-taken-as is <100%.

That however does not invalidate my statement. Most especially if you build properly which means you wont need %armour anymore either.

It also does not mean that Determination gets better as you say. Against mixed damages the effective %damage reduction you get out of Determination can be much lower.
