Sanctum feels terrible to play.

I'll start off by saying that I absolutely LOVED Sanctum League. I love the idea of the mechanic too and I'm thrilled that you brought it back as well... but there are some things that frustrate me to no end and have soured my desire to play the new and improved sanctum.
From the get-go, I understand that you didn't like the idea of sending minions off to kill the guards or using ranged abilities to do the same. However, their desire to run off if they are next to the edge of your screen is a heavy feels bad time because once they're off screen they stop taking damage. To make matters worse, they can see you and damage you when THEY are off screen, they only way you can get to damage them is to charge headlong into what quickly becomes a giant glob of the guards that just love to spam their AOE abilities forcing you to retreat off screen of them which means that your minions once again stop dealing damage. The guards fleeing combined with the inability to damage them if they are a single inch off your screen makes it infuriating to play sanctum. I found myself losing resolve time and again as I chased after these fleeing guards only for them to decide that suddenly they want to attack when you cannot even see them. You did a good job with the defenses applying to help mitigate resolve loss, however I think you missed the mark with the guards. I understand that: 1. Guards need to be interacted with, not killed from off screen 2. They need good counterplay, such as with wind-up abilities that give the player a chance to dodge. 3. They need to feel impactful to fight against. A simple fix that comes to mind is to reverse their tendency to flee and make them try to approach the player when they enter frame. Give them a non-damaging dash that lets them leap across gaps/ledges so that they can pursue the player. This would let us as players get to fight on our terms instead of them fleeing to the corner of the map with every other guard. Yes I died to guards when they all fled to the same room, giving me no real ability to kill them as they were all spamming abilities. You can't retreat because then you're not doing any damage, and they'll never chase you. Last bumped on Oct 2, 2023, 8:24:14 PM

The guards should also have to be on screen before they can harm you. It's not fair that you can't hurt them if they run off screen, but can snipe you without you knowing where they are or what they're telegraphing.
This is especially important when it concerns the sword guy who teleports. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

I don't like rares in sanctum. They can roll very dangerous things to resolve. For example I had a hasted hinder aura tanky guy that ate like 200ish resolve with basic attacks before it died.
I also think they buffed the mobs hp to much. Being able to deal damage offscreen solved the issue when gaurds would Spawn together in a bad layout where you couldn't dodge their crap. Sanctum feels bad right now. Last edited by roundishcap#0649 on Aug 21, 2023, 12:26:21 PM

Finally got around to trying my first sanctum since they brought it back and its the same old crap. Things hitting you from off screen that you can't even react to because you have no way of seeing it coming.

I don't like it and I suck. I was hoping different build would help but nope. I suck. One good thing is I've made money selling the tomes to people that like this crap.
Censored.
