Is controlled blaze bugged or is it missing an important line?

When using the new support gem controlled blaze, you will see a buff on your buff bar indicating how many ignites you have dealt with the supported skill recently.

However, when using it with a totem skill such as ancestral warchief or a skill supported by earthbreaker, the buff does not seem to appear despite these totems having the tags 'attack' and 'melee' - which are the tags required by controlled blaze.

Can we get a clarification if the buff icon not appearing is a bug when a supported skill is not being used by you, or if controlled blaze has a line missing on it that makes it not affect skills used by totems?

Also, when testing this it seems that the controlled blaze stacks do not modify the ignite damage per second statline in you stats window either. Is the support working at all actually?
