--nologo launch option in steam causes no/black background at login and character selection

Hey,
somehow my game won't show the background art when I set the --nologo launch option, either at login or character selection (I encountered the problem before patching started).

I was worried that I would have trouble creating a new character for the new league but luckily I found out that the launch option is connected to the problem, because a soon as I remove it, it works again, adding it brings back the issue.

I might have deleted the shader folders in *\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile before setting the launch option for the first time, but I can't remember which I did first...

I was having the same issue of a black background as you have shown, deleting the shaders folder indeed fixed it. Thank you for sharing this.
