Sadist Support vs. Swift Affliction

I wanted to move this over here so it doesn't get lost in the announcement thread.

Why....I am utterly at a loss for words (sort of).

The new sadist support = damaging ailments deal damage faster

And yet we already have the Swift Afflictions support, where that effect is literally IN THE NAME of the gem. Granted, the current support does NOT do what its namesake says it does but if GGG really wanted this effect added into the game on a support gem, then why the HELL isn't it on Swift Affliction?

I'm going to quote myself because I liked what I wrote in the other thread:
Why do we have a separate gem for swifter afflictions, when we literally have a gem called "swift afflictions".

AND ALSO: wouldn't sadists want the DoT to be SLOWER?

+1

sadists typically want to prolong the pain as long as possible. my best guess is theyre running out of words to use.

as for swift affliction, i agree too, actually swift affliction should have been "ailment deal damage x% faster" from the start.

if i had to nitpick, im salty that deadly ailment has a huge penalty for on hit damage

To be fair, that stat didn't exist until long after swift affliction found a foothold. But now is their obvious chance! It makes even more sense to just switch the two effects. Put the more damage over time mod onto Sadist maybe with an increased duration additional mod, and make Ailments faster damage on Swift Affliction.

But maybe that requires just a bit too much actual thought...

Swift affliction is a dmg buff, the new sadism support is a mechanic shift

Faster and slower are additive, it's not just that the wording is different.
