Vulkan crash entering town.
~EDIT: I was testing turning off multi threading and/or triple buffering to see if it stopped the crashing. But now it isn't crashing no matter the setting. Someones MTX that left town maybe?
~EDIT2: Left game open with vulkan for a view minutes in rogue harbor and it eventually crashed while standing still. Did you adjust any settings before this happened? I disabled triple buffering and got deviceLost crashes/hangs which lingered even after re-enabling. The crashes eventually took out the video drivers and even after scanning for new hardware still don't have NVidia control panel access.
Test your system with another program (3DMark or other tech demo might be ideal) fully before trying PoE again, if you can. No sense piling problems on top of each other and not being prepped for the next league, if that's what you're aiming for. |

I have experimented with other settings. Im not too terribly concerned about league start as direct x 12 seems to work fine. I previously preferred vulkan (but only for slight differences) though so i thought I'd provide some logs in case it helps the devs.

Just had a deviceLost crash again, had to scan for new hardware to get back drivers and I haven't touched settings in hours thinking they had stabilized. It might have to do with buffering, but also the alleged MTX issue others have mentioned. Unfortunately, something like that can only be spotted by GGG and I would've thought that to be easily/quickly fixed, disabling the offending MTX - if necessary - until the game is stable.
It's nothing I'm wearing, just happens when I newly zone into town or such. I'm using Vulkan ATM since DirectX seems to disable VRAM, if that helps narrow your issues down. |

That CPU CANNOT support Vulkan (codebase locked), nor DX12 (no support.) That is why you're crashing - it's not your GPU.

Bumping this to say that this crash is still occurring after the latest patch.
Still with the vulkan renderer. Will be league starting dx12 I suppose, it still seems to be working okay. RIP to the 20 extra fps vulkan gives me. lol |

Vulkan gives more FPS than DX12 but is a whole lot less stable as far as I can tell, it tends to stutter, have more graphical bugs and can even cause longer loading times and crashes. I personally stick with DX12 because despite slightly lower FPS, it's a whole lot smoother.
It's funny though that DX12 is marked with (Beta) but is more stable than Vulkan. Personally I think GGG are overstretching themselves by trying to support so many renderering engines and they should just stick to one so it will be easier to support. My life is slipping away...

The thing is, Vulkan was very stable to me before the most recent engine patches. I can't recall it ever crashing before in previous leagues. It either never happened or happened so infrequently they I can't recall it.

It seems similar to what I have experienced in https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3406617 .
Metadata/EngineGraphs/base.fxgraph seems the only part in common from the first part of the stacktrace, which is probably what is throwing the error. Not sure I haven't seen the code. Not sure how to help on that. Would love help from ggg. |
