Metamod - 'respected', but disappears, yes?

the metamod wiki doesn't explicitly say so, but reading the examples I conclude that, when reforging a rare (in a way that 'respects' metamods), the prefixes/suffixes are protected, but the metamod (prefixes/suffixes cannot be changed) gets reforged / disappears, yes? (and there is no way to protect the metamod, right?)

They're not specifically protected in any way, but (mostly) they will get removed in the reforging process.

I will illustrate with an example: 'Prefixes Cannot Be Changed' (also called: lock prefixes, p-lock, PCBC) is a suffix. If I have 3 prefixes, craft PCBC, and use a chaos orb, my prefixes won't be changed, but there's nothing protecting the suffixes, so they will be reforged (including the metacraft). Same goes with 'Suffixes Cannot Be Changed'.

Of course, you can protect them from being removed, since they're a mod just like anything else. You would need to have both PCBC and SCBC on the same item, which requires you to craft 'Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers' (also called: 3mod, multimod), or have the Heist drop-only enchant 'Can have 1 additional Crafted Modifier' on there already.

This has very few uses, due to its expense and the fact that you need 2 open suffixes and 1 open prefix. Some items have only one or two mods with a specific tag (usually it's Chaos) on their prefixes. This means you can craft these three metamods on there (expensive) and use Harvest's Reforge Chaos to force a Chaos mod on there. There are also situations when crafting mirror-tier multi-link weapons, to force mods in a similar fashion. The final one is to change the item's name, but this is only really done with mirror-tier weapons too.
