Significant audio stutter in Vulkan without new Vsync, but not DX11
So before the newly added vsync settings, I had vsync off, foreground fps cap of 60, using Vulkan. It would stay stable @ 60, things played well, no audio problems.
Monitor is a 144hz one but I wanted stable fps over as much as possible. After the update, I login and am confronted with horribly choppy audio on everything in-game, but not from anything else outside of it. Tried changing many settings, changing them back after nothing changed. I set vsync to adaptive, and instantly I have my usual clean audio again in hideout. Having it set to fast plus foreground fps cap above 80 or so also seems to clear the audio for me. Did a map just fine with both settings, though I didn't see it drop below 80 so I don't know if the problem was still lurking below. I don't really understand how this solved the problem when I've played for years with typically no audio issues at 60 fps, so I tested this in the other renderers. A map with DX11, vsync fast, foreground cap 60: Normal audio. A map with DX11, vsync adaptive: Normal audio even the time it dipped under 60 for a few seconds. A map with DX12, vsync fast, foreground cap 60: Stuttery hideout audio returned. Cap of 80 worked fine until it dipped close to 60 near a ritual pack. A map with DX12, vsync adaptive: Worked well, had a bit of lag that might have been unrelated. Last edited by Aklyon#1392 on Aug 7, 2023, 6:34:34 PM Last bumped on Jul 31, 2023, 7:07:15 PM
