PC Freezing Up (no mouse movement, but with audio)

Just to be clear, this has been happening even before the recent patch, and I actually thought that the patch fixed it, until it happened again a while ago.

What happens is that the game will suddenly freeze up, and my computer will become unresponsive. The keyboard locks up (for example pressing CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK will not turn on the indicator light, and the mouse can't be moved. However, the audio is playing just fine. It happens regardless of the video settings I change, or the renderer I use. All three have fallen victim to this. The performance graph is also frozen. At this point, the only option is to hold the power button. On restart, there are no major errors in Event Viewer.

After the patch, a similar thing will happen from time to time. Screen freezes (but audio is fine), but this time, I can still move my mouse. When it "catches up", the game is rresponding again and I can see a spike on the white line on the graph. I think the 3.22b patch reintroduced the issue. Another issue with this is that the problem seems to be random. I've had instances where this happened in a town, and this latest instance happened when I popped a Delirium Mirror in one of my maps.

What could be the problem here? And how can I fix it? I've already tried verifying the game files and reinstalling the game. This behavior also only happens in PoE.

System specs:

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
GPU - Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700XT
Memory - 2x8GB Patriot Viper Steel 3200 Mhz
SSD - Patriot VPN100 NVMe 1TB (Drive C is where Steam is, Drive D is where all my games are).

I have a similar system and experienced the same lock up issue fairly frequently (also while idling) for the past 16 months or so. If you haven't updated your BIOs recently, I recommend trying that out. The latest driver on my ASUS board is a lot more stable and reduced the frequency of crashing for me to about once in 100 hours of gaming.
