Totems. What counts as "on kill" "you kill" etc
I have been experimenting with totems recently and either I don't know what I am doing or there seems to be inconsistency in some effects.
I have Corpse Pact, to apply shock and watch for Herald of Thunder to activate on "Creates a storm when you Kill a Shocked Enemy". It seems like in general any totem kill can activate HoT. So that seems to work and counts it as "you kill". Using Asenath's Gentle Touch. the totem applies temp chains and it does seem to explode based on the fact there are missing corpses. "Enemies Killed near corpses affected by your Curses explode" So that seems to work meaning it considers it "your Curses" My character is low level and not scaling the explode so it's not super clear to me this is working but it seems like it is. Now on the tree, I allocated the 3 nodes near Last Rites "Recover #% life/mana when you kill a cursed enemy" That doesn't seem to work or maybe "recover" is over time? If I blow up a pack of 10 monsters I think I'd see a jump in 10% life but I'm not. 1) What I'd like to achieve is sustain of mana and life or ES based on kills but I am not sure if it will work or what to try. Suggestions? 2) Does it matter if the totem kills with direct damage or DOT? I have read that DOTs will always count as your kill, so maybe that would work a little differently? 1) Totems inherit your offensive stats, and can shock, curse on hit, etc. But you can't get anything for killing with totems, totems would get the credit for the kill instead (if they can).
2) Yes, DOTs will count as your kill |

Ok, thanks.
Since DOTs work for "on kill" if I built a DOT totem build, like poison since it can stack, there would be a chance of using an "on kill" effect? |

You could, yes.

" Ok, got this working with ignite. I am not sure I can make a good build with it but that was fun to figure out. |
