Can I craft crucible skill trees into items without passive skill trees?

Does the crucible league work by being able to build up a skill tree onto a random weapon/shield and then be able to craft it onto a item currently without any skill tree? Curious how the Crucible league mechanic will work on all the Standard league items after the merge or if all Standard items will become obsolete.

Crucible will not be going core.

You cannot move a Crucible skill tree from one item to another. The only way to do so is to combine two trees in the Forge of the Titans, which can brick it entirely.

Wise not to rely on anything going. I expect items with skill trees
already on them will merge with standard. at which time they will
be unchangeable as there will be no more crucible encounters.

magmatic ores and geodes will probably also merge into std.

so a rich standard guy, might buy a whack of magmatic ore and
geodes. a few good items and set himself up at the cost of many
divines. no new crucible items will exist that were not made
of geode encounters which are of finite quantity on std. therefore
valuable.

or they delete everything except your modified items. which can
never ever be changed again. no geodes, no magmatic ore.

they cant just delete our weapons and shields when we merge with standard.
did they do that with the OP harvest league? I've still got kalandra
maps and ultimatums in standard.

mind you.... every part of last league's content was deleted.
