Some Skill Gems aren't working

Hey, new to POE!

I noticed some inconsistencies and want to make sure I'm not overlooking something.

So when I try to apply the Sparks skill gem on any piece of armor or weapon in Inventory 1 it doesn't grant me the skill. However, if it's on a gear and I switch to Inventory 2, then I get the skill added to a bind.

I'm having a similar issue with Orb of Storms, except it's dead and doesn't work at all. I was just using it yesterday but now I can't use it at all?

Is there something I'm doing wrong with the application of the skill gems?
Also my Intelligence and account level are high enough for both.

The gem has to be on your active weapon set to work. If you have weapon slot 1 selected any gems in weapon slot 2 are unusable until you swap to number 2. The gems will however gain experience even if they are in the inactive weapon slot.

Also go to your privacy settings here on the website and set it to show your profile and characters. That will help a lot in the future when you want advice.

Glancing at the post again your problem looks like it is just deactivating when you weapon swap from your hot bar. On the second weapon swap just select spark on the hotbar again.

I figured out what happened based off of you're reply.
I completely forgot about the 5 skills hidden from the standard 5 that are there. So now when I hold ctrl I see them both there.
I didn't even know you can remap the skills too!

Thank you!

You are aware that you can change which skills are bound to which keys, right? Clicking on a binding on the skill bar brings up the skills you have equipped, allowing you to rearrange the skills as you like.

You can also hold Ctrl for another 5 available skill binds, such as Ctrl+Q.

[edit] Looks like you figured that out while I was typing up this post!
