Numbing Elixir (still) not reducing the effect of non-damaging ailments

Short description: I used a life flask while having 3 Numbing Elixir notables allocated. I expected this to reduce the effect of non-damaging ailments on me to 0 in most cases. What happened was that I was still being consistently frozen, chilled, shocked, sapped and scorched during the effect of life flasks.

More details on how I tested:

First, I ensured that life flasks were active. To make sure this was not limited to specific cases of forcing life flasks to stay active, this was done consecutively in three different ways, which all had the same (non-)result:
– Reducing life to 1 before pressing a Life Flask
– Using a Hybrid Flask with the Foreboding modifier (Mana Recovery occurs instantly at the End of Effect)
– Pathfinder with Master Surgeon allocated

Second, I allocated three Numbing Elixir notables. This should reduce Curse Effect by a total of 120% during the Effect of any Mana Flask, and the Effect of Non-Damaging Ailments by a total of 120% during the Effect of any Life Flask.

Third, I checked that the reduced curse effect modifier was working. I self-cursed myself with Temporal Chains using Rotblood Promise. This resulted in the expected reduction in Action Speed (e.g. on my character sheet). After pressing a Foreboding Hybrid Flask with a character (with Blood Magic and on full life), the Action Speed returned to normal as expected for the duration of the flask's effect, while the curse itself remained. I had no other interactions with flasks and curses.

Next, I inflicted ailments on myself in various ways to verify that reduced effect of non-damaging ailments was not working. I used map ground effects, the Fulcrum and eldritch altar modifiers to force various ailments on myself. I had no known sources of increased effect of any ailments while testing. Most of the testing was done in hideout with Hydrosphere or Writhing Jar worms, but the effects also appeared in regular map play (without Fulcrum) from various monsters and various maps (i.e., it appears unlikely they all had increased effect of ailments modifiers). Across all cases,
– Having a life flask active did not change chill, shock, sap or scorch visual numbers on the debuff list, while I would have expected them to go to 0
– Having a life flask active did not change the action speed indicator in my character screen while I was chilled or frozen
– Having a life flask active did not allow me to move or use skills while frozen, and I was visibly slower while chilled, i.e., the bug was not limited to the action speed magnitude on the character screen

In contrast, I have so far been unable to find a case where the modifier regarding non-damaging ailments on Numbing Elixir would work as expected.

Finally, I checked that I was able to achieve the desired result with other sources of ailment effect reduction. For this test, I used a map with chilled ground, and first again verified that life flasks and Numbing Elixir had no effect on the chill effect from ground. I then used a Hierophant and first allocated the Anointed Flesh passive tree cluster, amounting to a 50% static reduction in chill effect, which reduced the chill effect from ground just as expected. I then also allocated Illuminated Devotion, which reduces effect of non-damaging ailments by a further 50% while I have Arcane Surge. While I had Arcane Surge, the effect of chill was reduced to 0% (with debuff list, character screen action speed modifier and visible movement speed all in agreement) on chilled ground just as expected.

Not sure if this helps you but Master Surgeon doesn't seem to consider Hybrid flasks as life flasks. For example, I couldn't use my Divination Distillate when my life was full.

Useful information, but not directly related. :) Hybrids are definitely considered life flasks for most other purposes I've encountered, but I did most of the later tests with a non-hybrid life flask just to make sure the flask type wasn't the issue. Hybrids do function as mana flasks for the curse postion of Numbing Elixir.
