sacred grove spawn

is the only way to get sacred grove spawn in map every time is using charge compass? is there scarab equivalent?

It's on the map device this league.
I'm getting spawns on about 70% of maps running FFTB while specked into harvest/expedition on tree and blocking a few of the other possible contents. Blocking more content and using an expedition scarab would get it pretty close to 100% I would think.

expedition scarab affect expedition . tinfoil hat on block most extra content and then force yet another extra content to spawn (expedition in this case) and actually increase the last extra content to spawn

FFTB spawns 1 of 8 options from the map device. You can block heist, metamorph, abyss and expedition (which I left on), leaving a 1/4 chance for harvest. You can also then block breech, legion and delerium on the tree. This gives aprox. +20% to other content spawn, which gets funneled towards harvest because everything of the blocks.

There is +45% chance to spawn harvest from tree. In my case I also have +48% expedition instead of blocking.

According to what I can see on reddit (which may be wrong, cant fully access), there are 15 types of content with 8% base spawn chance. Blocking 9 of these on the tree leaves 6 remaining. +20% chance to spawn other content divide 6 ways gives about another +3%.

All together 8 + 45 + 3 = 56%. Combine this with a 1/4 chance to add harvest from FFTB when you miss, 1/4*44% = 11%. 11+56 = 67%. I'm not sure but its quite possible this can be further increased using other methods, like scarab or tree. For example, does having guaranteed harbingered/essence spawn increase, decrease or have no effect on other spawn rates of increased chance of other content. Not aware if this completely independent or dependent. In my case, will using an expedition scarab roll after or before FFTB. I'm not sure. If it is after, the scarab will add an extra expedition when FFTB roll expedition. If it is before, it may block expedition from rolling on FFTB because the map device says "Area contains an expedition" not extra. It may also just be wasted in that case.

Obviously using 100% spawn on map device is easier and takes less investment, but if you need to run many harvest, which I assume you do because of how harvest works, you will be saving 7 chaos per map. Even with %67 spawn rate this means your getting about 1 spawn for every 4.5 chaos spent, rather than 10c spent (not including other costs like time/map resources).

Some of my math and reasoning may be inaccurate, but it does work, I got the idea from someone else on the forum who was doing it, so there may be a better explanation on google/reddit/forum of how to optimize. I've farmed about 100k harvest mats this league without focusing directly on harvest, just running them when I come across the spawn.
FFTB will ignore your blocking on the atlas passive tree. I have harvest, metamorph, expedition and a bunch of other stuff blocked but it will trigger with FFTB. The only weird interaction is blocking heist and then FFTB selecting heist will give those heist chests but with no loot inside.

I am curious if sextants on blocked content will push other content to spawn but FFTB is not the way to do it.
Yes, you may correct now that I think about it and I might still be getting a small amount of abyss/metamorph from FFTB and not registered it. In This case FFTB is still helpful but only giving about 5% more sacred groves rather than 11%. I have heist open but not specc'd on tree, thanks for the heads-up.

When writing my last post I've realized that most of the power is just coming from being spec'd into harvest and getting the +45%. Blocking might not be optimal if it loses 8% base of one content and only gaining +2% of random. Maybe I shouldn't be using these at all.

I can also see now reading the tool tip there is a list of the 15 content types.
I took a look at the binomial distribution for 15 independent trials and .08 probability success. About 97% of maps will have 3 or less content types.

Aside from blocking, what happens when I have 50% sacred grove, 50% expedition chance and FFTB added? They are the two most expensive crafts on the map device currently, and at those rates should be spawning at least 1 of them on 75% of maps. How does this interact with FFTB? Will I then get more of the lower value crafts, or am I just getting less value for FFTB when it chooses these contents. On the flip side, what happens if I run FFTB with a metamorph scarab? Do have a 1/7 chance of FFTB selecting other crafts, or is it still 1/8?

Not too sure about sextants, I'm usually not that far into voidstone to have played around with it, its the only other thing I can think of that might be useful though.
