Looting guide for REAL beginners
Hi, I'm a REAL beginner in PoE, I started to play the game three days ago, and I'm level 22 now. I feel very frustrated with this game, specially the looting system, but I thought before uninstalling I'd give it a last chance by asking here.
I find the looting system ridiculously complex, inconvenient, and unfriendly to beginners. Even after hours looking at guides and wikis, I still have no idea of which loot is worth picking up. I know currency and rares and uniques that fit my (super basic) build are good, but that's about 0.1% of the loot. How do I figure out what to do with the other 99.9%? I've been following a guide that it's supposed to be for total beginners, but all it says about looting is that you shouldn't pick up rubbish, which is useless when you don't know what is rubbish and what is not. So, is there any guide that explains what is worth picking up and what isn't in a way that a REAL beginner can understand? And, for bonus points, is there any looting filter that a real beginner like me can easily set up? (Neversink is a no-no, the general filters are easy to use but useless for a beginner, and customizing a filter seems to require a university degree in PoE). Last bumped on May 17, 2023, 6:47:11 AM

99% of loot is useless...best thing you can do is have a loot filter hide it so you dont even worry about it. i use neversink. it has different strictness levels so you can choose what you prefer

Those popular lootfilters are usually prioritizing 3/4-linked items during your campaign because they know it is tough to get jewellers and fusings (for socketing and linking items) very early in the campaign, and being able to multi-link your skill gems are a huge power upgrade even if they have no offensive affixes. They are just as powerful as having good offensive affixes on the items.
It is also not advisable to spend fusings on campaign gear because you will actively change to a better gear. That old gear won't stick around long enough on your character. Last edited by jeerinho#7997 on May 17, 2023, 2:32:46 AM

Thank you for the feedback, guys. Eventually I just uninstalled, though, this game doesn't make sense to me.
