Auras - how many can you reasonably run?

Hi,

How many Auras can your build run without too heavy an investment? I'm looking to see where people are at and hopefully find a trend that indicates where diminishing returns starts to kick in.

I'm currently running 6 auras at the moment without a level 5 awakened Enlighten. I don't have a +1 to socketed gems slot for enlighten, though I do have 10% reduced mana reservation on my chest, Hyrri's and a Pride mana reservation efficiency Watcher's Eye.

- Pride
- Determination
- Herald of Purity
- Precision
- Anomalous War Banner
- Blood and Sand

They brought back a mana reservation mastery which is excellent and highly appreciated.
I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

3 maybe 4
I guess it's hard to compare the amount of auras you can put in one specific build and compare it with the amount of auras another totally different build can suite.

But 3 50% auras and small stuff like banner or a herald isn't really that much of a deal with the mastery change or any heavy investment.

I'm currently use purity of elements, det, precision, blood and sand, def banner and haste just fine. working on an additional 50% aura but rng wasn't on my side for the crafting part.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Got a Champ running Determination, Pride, Herald of Purity, Tempest Shield, lvl 20 Precision, lvl 20 Vitality, Blood and Sand, and War Banner. Getting there via Diadem with 30% Pride efficiency, a small Pride reserve cluster, a small Determination reserve cluster, and the reserve nodes between Marauder/Duelist (and free banner from Champ).

Also have Purity of Elements linked to Divine Blessing and pop that as needed for on the fly ailment immunities/further overcapping of res for stuff like altars.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.
For a context HC player here, but most of them time it is the following:
- 2, 50% reservation auras of which one is Determination and another offensive one
- 1-3 flat reservation with 1 aura node investment

If I go for diadem, ashes or more aura nodes then I add more auras but that's usually much later once I've farmed enough gear.
4-6 on average i'd say, that's something you can fit in without much investment on any build. Obviously depends on how many 50% auras you wanna run, i typically use one 50% and a bunch of smaller ones so my estimate is based on that. On low life builds it can be 10+ isn't even much of a strain there but would be tough on others.
Depends on build, depends on what your goals are, depends how much you invest into reservation, depends if you are using low life /ES combo.

My current main in league atm runs these auras:
Determination
Zaelotry
Discipline
Malevolence
Clarity 20lvl
Vitality 20lvl
Defiance banner
Purity of lightning
Purity of fire
Purity of ice

And I have ~60% increased aura effect. I am not hard commited aura stacker (I still miss Haste, Grace, etc.), but being a build with shavrone wrapp/prism guardian allows several extra auras.

Downside - when you die you need to reactivate 10auras again and again (for example on uber bosses, if you are learning the fight and die often to mechanics you should avoid).
Wish aura stacking wasn't so mandatory regardless of what kind of character you are trying to make.

D4 does not have a single aura skill, and braindead must-have generic stat stick passives are reduced to minimum on skill tree, their impact on build is also minimal compared to various conditional procs you have to actively use, not just put them on and hold 1 button.

Here you pick 1 skill and make the rest of character into one big stat stick for that skill, to maybe catch up with overtuned league content mobs on raw dps and ehp. What's the point of having complex mechanics in your game if they are always used the same way?
Since I am currently on the right side of the tree, I put 6 skill points into 2 aura wheels (3 each) and 2 nodes i need to go through for the extra curse anyway. No gear efficiency and no enlighten. That is enough for:

a defensive aura
blasphemy
flesh and stone
vitality

I think that is pretty reasonable for the small investment.

Thanks for the replies.

Every build would be silly to not use auras and it seems like most people can fit at least 4.

I remember back 4-6 or so years ago when you'd rarely consider running defensive auras unless you were an aura bot. Seems like everyone's running at least 2 and up to 5 now.
I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.
