Why crucible Passive skill tree upgrade counts 40 scourings>3 Divines?

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I faced one of the strangest Crucible experience: 3 Divine (tier2) node was converted to 40 scourings (tier2) node with the text "skill has upgraded in tier".
How is it counted if even their tiers are the same?

40 is greater than 3. Makes perfect sense.

On a serious note, though; WTF!?

uhhh... that hurts already by looking at the screenshots.

Seems like either a) an oversight while implementing the system or b) the responsible person at GGG had a clown for breakfast the day this got implemented.

Was the Divine node a host or a donor ? (I assumed it was a host from your description.)

Generally, it's just a small part of yesterday's pain. I did about 10-15 Crucible tree combinations, 1 good, and 2-3 normal (3 divs were not lost), all others failed.
Previously (about 1 week ago) I did about 25-30 combinations in the same way, there were 1 failed, 2-3 normal, and all others good.
And yesterday I had a feeling that they somehow changed the system: random changes of the node to another one which did not belong to the initial trees without the information that it was mutated. And this "upgrade" was the last thing that killed me

On the top one (I think you meant it as a donor), on the bottom one this place was just empty.

It was upgrade from nothing (empty node) to something...?

It changed something into nothing for me. (I tried opposite, empty node onto desired node)
