PDR as element question

hi
how does the PDR as element work?
say i have 50% pdr as lightning from lightning coild and 20% pdr as fire from chieftain ascendancy.
does it add up?. can i put purity of lightning and purity of fire for added more physical damage reduction?
thanx

Physical damage taken as element converts a percentage of the physical damage you take to elemental damage which is then treated normally like any elemental damage would be. So in your example, if you got hit for 10000 phys damage, 7000 of it would be converted to elements, 5000 lightning and 2000 fire. They would then be reduced by your maximum resistances so assuming you have 75 res and no other elemental mitigations you'd take 7000x0,25= 1750 damage plus the 3000 physical damage that haven't been converted. If you had purity of lightning/fire the elemental potion would be reduced further but at least the purity of fire likely won't be worth it since it only affects the 20% you take as fire damage which is a minor part of the whole.
so they dont add up?
the idea is, ditching determination and go full on purities. maybe

What do you mean by "add up" if you have 50 lightning conversion and 20 fire conversion then that makes for 70 elemental conversion total. They do add up in that sense. It's just that the purity of fire will only apply to the 20% of the damage that was converted to fire so it's somewhat inefficient.

Ditching determination and going full conversion is absolutely viable as long as you have 80-90% conversion, everything below will likely feel squishy. In the above example without any other physical reduction you'd still take 3k phys damage despite 70% conversion. Whether purities make sense on top is questionable though. If you could convert everything to the same element it would be one thing, but if it's split then it becomes a different story.

You could consider Cloak of Flame instead of Lightning coil. Then a Watchers Eye with phys taken as fire while you have purity of fire and you'd have ~75% of phys taken as fire which would then benefit entirely from your purity of fire aura and other max fire res you might have. Put a ruby flask on top and you have massive reduction.

really depends how much armour you have without deter.
just use POB to determine your max phys hit is an acceptable #, don't forget you can always swap in purity of elements and use WE conversion mods there to fill in %'s.
i have 5,7k armour without determination.
whats WE conversion mods?

phys taken as cold/fire/lightning.
theres 1 for each, you can get all 3 on same jewel(will be expensive if you want a triple)
