To hard for beginners and you need a PHD in POE to play.

It's like the devs want to actively discourage new players from playing the game. Why would any dev who wants to gain players make the very first act of the game so damn difficult. New players don't have a clue what they are doing, why make it so punishing for new players? As as if that isn't hard enough, if new players really want to sit down and play they need to spend many, many hours learning about the ins and out of subtle things, or they will die, over and over and over.
Eventually, a game is going to die trying to just hang on to their super hardcore crowd. A game needs to be approachable by new players and not try to instantly kill them in the first few areas of the game. And good luck learning about all these layers of defense the game requires of you not to insta die later. I hope PoE2 is going to be easier, and more approachable for newer players. Games can't survive on only hardcore players. A game needs new players to survive and thrive. Last bumped on May 2, 2023, 2:16:39 AM

GGG needs to support some new streamers who's purpose is to educate and inform.
Also GGG needs to do something with PoB they hired the guy who made it, The tool is advertised to help you learn but the truth is it has the exact opposite effect on most of the playerbase and is at best a delivery mechanism for streamers. Innocence forgives you

What you get when there has been no skill rebalancing while adding tankier and tankier mobs.

" I remember being pretty upset about the tanky-yellow update and how it would have negative impacts on newer players.. This also tying in with how endgame content was setup and the need for there to be a curve instead of a wall.

This is definitely one of the biggest issues currently facing the game, and it really is something that GGG should look into before path of exile 2. The core of the problem is that the game has an excellent tutorial which nobody reads, because people trying out a free-to-play game just want to get out there and smash skeletons, not sit in town reading page after page of information they really do need.
The solution is more interactive, organic tutorials introducing systems through gameplay. A simplified example of how this should be done is a guaranteed whispering essence just inside the entrance to the prison or something, some major quest area that players are forced to walk through, and investigating it essentially triggers a side quest where the entire essence system is introduced to new players in a way that isn't miserable and boring. The problem is, this takes dev time and work to implement, and then has to be translated into every supported language, and then this would have to be repeated for every single system in the entire game. It's definitely not a minor undertaking by any means, but that's exactly why GGG should probably get started now and try to hit a couple of mechanics each patch. |

Idk if any of you played TL Infinite, but they have an in-game system where you can hover over keywords and it explains what it is.
When crafting, there's an info icon and if you click it shows all the affix tiers & weightings. In their trade house, if you look up an item it tells you if it's a global drop or boss/area-specific drop, and which monster/area it drops in. To do all these things in PoE, you need to have multiple windows open in your browser. So yeah, no new player is gonna tolerate that. It seems GGG has just accepted that PoE gets only returning players & little to no new players. |

I have been saying this for a while, not only is the game a bit more dificult than it should be, the dificulty is also not linear, for example act 2 is easier than act 1.
Dificulty aside POE also has a MASSIVE feature creep issue, 10 years of new system without the devs taking a look at complexity and ease of acess to said systems makes the game extremely daunting and dificult to aproach. Not only does the game have the issues mentioned abouve it also has balance and design issues , its kinda hard right now for any one that has not been playing the game for a while to get into the game for the first time or come back. IMHO the game needs a "clean up" league, where the devs dont introduce any new mechanics and simply simplify the existing ones as well as taking a very long and methodical pass on balance and design. |

" pls no, Personally i want complex mechanics like the original harvest, having simple mechanics is nice too if you don't feel like all that extra work, Some people are farmers, hunters and so much more having activity's for all types of people or at least that are compatible is something i'd hope to see in PoE if it remains steadfast in its development and continued mission to be played FOREVER. give farm! My buddy was back from a break and kept asking how do I get this? What does this do? etc. The funny part is these were all basic end-game loop questions because the game tells you nothing.
The rest of the game is just numbers. It's nothing "Difficult" just numbers. Funny part is PoB hurts much as it helps. People see something like take 20% Elemental damage as Physical. They think "Oh I got 85% Phys and 79% Res All. PoB tells me it's +2% reduction" - Yea, no. Not quite. This is where PoB really only helps if you already know and it's just a short cut. You could totally do the math by hand with notepad.exe if you wanted and it's misleading to others. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac
