New players and pay-to-play private leagues questions.
Hi everybody, I am still learning this game, and am going to start a private league for beginning players, and wanted to ask for tips on how to use the ingame "Create a private League" functionality.
I would prefer input from folks that have actual experience with this, both as a paying customer and as someone that has played in such a league. So please, share your experiences, let me know the good and the bad, the things to watch out for, as well as the things to make sure I do. Now for my questions: 1) How do I invite players into my private league? 2) How do I kick bad mannered players from my private league? 3) Besides "No magic or Rare items drop" what options are a must for new players to help them learn game mechanics? 4) How long should my first private league last for? 5) How many private leagues can I buy and run at the same time? For instance, if I wanted to run a basic training league on a short term, recurring but not running all the time basis, in addition to long leagues for those that want to play a bit more time and build up their knowledge base in PoE before taking the plunge and just joining public games, how many such leagues could I have going on at the same time and still play character is all of them? New to the game, and new to the whole Private League mechanic, so... HELP? Last bumped on May 1, 2023, 2:07:35 AM

First you have to create your private league before you can invite people.
https://www.pathofexile.com/private-leagues/create You get a pretty self explaining administration interface after the creation. 3. You want to have rare and magic drops as a beginner and set no additional settings as they are all for more advanced players who are familiar with the game. Enabling any settings puts you just in a disadvantage as a new player 4. Depends on how long you want to keep playing in it with your friends. But overall I would recommend you to stick to the current running league before you start to create a paid private league. You still get to play with your friends and get time to learn the game on your own pace. Probably easier as you also get access to a established market which provides you with plenty of beginner helpful items. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Thanks for the quick reply @Pashid.
The reason the magic and rare items are not dropping is that I want to use the functionality to help folks learn the game, and one thing I have seen is that all the folks that got rushed to maps don't know how to do some very basic things, and I am aiming to learn how to do all that, and then pass that info on to new players. I had just started playing with a friend, both of us new to the game, and we were going to play together self-found, and get through the storyline and just generally have a blast, but the very next day, some of the elite players went and blinged his character out, and that killed the idea of working with just what we could find ourselves. The big reason why this was so bad, is I had just started teaching him how to use his currency to upgrade items, and then I'd let him have first pick of the resulting gear, and this ensured that his character was not going to be undergeared compared to mine, and then my (somewhat) greater understanding of the game would be offset by him having better gear. In the new private league, I'll be treating it as a basic training kind of thing, which my gaming clan could really use. Anyway, when the thing gets going, I'm looking forward to making several characters, and running loot runs for currency, so everyone has the ability to make items. Now for some more questions: 1) When doing 1 on 1 playthroughs to get folks started, should I really make a new one for each person, so that I can meet them right on the beach (not really, but as close to it as PoE allows for), and then help them progress until some point into act 1? 2) I know from past experience in other games, that not everyone is going to be able to play at the same time, and so I will have to do some of this in the private league, is there a point in act 1 that is good to level folks up to, and then have them join the rest of the party and go onward from there? And if so, where is/are some of these points? 3) If I end up having three different folks/sets of players, with playing times that only match up once or twice a week, but there is always someone playing every day, how best to cover this if I am the only one willing and able to play most of the time, if I never want someone to HAVE to play alone (they of course can CHOOSE to play alone as much as they want), but the whole point is to make teamwork and comradery an all the time thing. |

Another question, if I pay to create a private league, none of the folks I'm inviting are going to get charged anything, right? They play for free?

Too sick to play today. Any responses to the questions while I'm out sick?

Another pressing question:
My understanding is that after the end of a Private (Pay-to-Play) league, the characters just roll over into Standard League. Is this correct? Someone (who apparently has never used this built in game mechanic) was saying that all your characters and items would just disappear, so there was no point in playing in these private leagues. I wish to be able to dispel this incorrect notion by posting a screen shot from the official PoE forums confirming that that is not in fact the case. If I could also get confirmation that only the purchaser pays when enjoying these private leagues, as opposed to everyone that joins their league, that would be great, as the same guy did both these things. Help me get my gaming clan straightened out with the facts please, so we can start to improve out gaming experience by making proper use of this potentially great feature of PoE. Thanks everyone! Hopefully, I can get a staff member to reply to this, so it carries more weight and is then undoubted, and accepted as true? Last edited by WarMongerian#4315 on May 1, 2023, 2:12:16 AM
