Few questions regarding trading
|
Just for the context - I have played PoE mainly back when it started and have returned just recently, slowly figuring out the changes/additions. I think that I've chosen the correct forum section, but in case I did not then feel free to move it to the proper place.
ExtraContext
There are a few things that I find kind of frustrating a bit, for example the domination of outdated overviews/guides on the web, when I try to find info on certain mechanics or content type, that is not that easy to figure out ingame. Even the wikis have outdated stuff, sometimes with a small text at the bottom that it was outdated in patch X, sometimes not (even simple things like few skill nodes are outdated, so I have to check also another wiki and verify ingame), and I'm not even playing on the new league. Would be cool to have proper descriptions inside the game, without the need to find what some inexplicable text actually mean (I see that some sort of more detailed description was added, hopefully recently and not an abandoned trend, for skill nodes on the items, when it's shown in an extra box near the item; could be shown on alt or even a setting, if that would bother the main playerbase, more than likely I'll figure everything out by that time, just a suggestion if someone from staff will read this) on external resources, while hoping that it's a proper explanation and isn't outdated. But all in all you can kind of figure that all out if you really want to, except for probably the memory leak (or more likely the lack of RAM-clearing of unused loaded resources in the client), to which everyone suggest to "download more RAM" (restarting the client sounds better to me, albeit it's not a solution), and the trading stuff, so:
Question #1) Can someone explain to me what's going on with the pricing on trade? To be more specific, here's a valid example - as you can tell the prices are way way lower than the actual market value, if you can sort of explain the offline players, that maybe they've listed long ago and are since gone, then how to explain the online ones selling 1 Div for a Chaos or even few Divs? I've tried to contact those players (I found vague explanations on the web, more on that later), maybe they're just generously helping players on Standard, as they play just the leagues, and of course they didn't respond. Now if we select online-only, then those online that are for the low price kind of disappear from online list, even though that they're online... I tried to look into it and as far as I could find the info, the only somewhat credible explanation, that I found, was that people do this to drive the price of items down (still doesn't explain the disappearing online listings), since such behavior is not prohibited, but that clearly isn't working at least for currencies (as far as I can tell), so what? why? and are devs actually looking for the solution of this? Question #2, for those that don't play 24/7) How do you handle your sales? Basically looking forward for your advices how to put items for sale...what I meant by that is that once you put your items on sale, what do you do? For hypothetical example I put 10 items for sale, that probably won't be sold in an instant, then I actually go playing the game and in the middle of a heated button mashing I get the pm to trade, your actions? Or most of you set a separate hour or so for trades and then delist the items after that time or change status to offline? How many of you ignore pms (also useful info to know for buying) while in combat? Do people actually wait for you to finish /whatever the content if you reply? Etc. etc. P.S. Just in case anyone will mention it - I know about this manifesto and have read it, although I still don't get why devs haven't added the trade window/tab in the game itself (fairly easy to do, even with the bookmarking), it's not like they use 3rd party for the website (and thus need the up-to-date separate browser), but I'll leave that out of questions. There is price fixing going on sometimes as you have figured out yourself. Gotta watch out, it#s a jungle out there.
Some things can be hard to sell since the market is bloated in sc trade. It sometimes makes sense to sell stuff below amrket value if you need the currency fast to progress. Will people wait? That depends, if they buy small stuff that is offered a lot they will wisper ten people anyway so probably not. If they want to buy your rare item for 100 chaos that fixes their resistances and attributes and have an open prefix to craft or whatnot they will probably wait 2 minutes, because the item is exactly what they need at that moment and since they wispered you there might not be another item like that available for that price.
