Explosive Arrow Elementalist help
Hello there, I'm a new player starting seriously this league.
I followed a guide from Maxroll after that I follow this POB- https://pobb.in/-hDobOxTL6xU My problem is that I'm a little sick of dying or playing so careful, I understand that is a hard game but I think I can improve my gear a lot. I know that I have pretty low HP for my level and Chaos Rez is only 2%, I know that is a problem but if I want to cap my Chaos Rez I need to change a lot of gear. I have some currency but I don't want to waste it on gear that is not at least ok, some gear that will help me. Here is my pob - https://pobb.in/JIGQ3oRDCURC I know that I have a lot to learn and this will come with the time, but my purpose is to make the build a little easier to play. I find strange that a lot of ppl complain about the huge passive tree, huge atlas tree and so on but for me my biggest down about the game is that fact that we loose xp when we die. I think I will be at least lvl 96-97(not sure exacly how xp scale exacly) if this mechanic never existed. Thanks in advice. Last bumped on Apr 22, 2023, 9:57:19 AM

Hey there,
you pretty much summed up your builds issues already. There isnt much left to add, you are on the right track. However, PoE is a game that rewards decision making. If you run hightier map with the alch & go method or even reroll for more rewarding and also harder map mods, you will die. You know that and the game has been telegraphing this too. The correct decision is either getting better gear, if you can afford it. Or drop down a few tiers and farm easier content. You dont need to alch maps, blue or white maps will do as long as you can sustain maps. Add easy Atlas mechanics, which will spawn tons of monsters and therefore grant a ton of XP while also allowing you to farm more currency and buy/craft the upgrades you need to tackle harder content. I would recommend to take a good long look at your atlas tree and remove content your build cant handle all that well and use those points to add content you can handle. Then drop down a few tiers and spam away. You should be able to get to at least lvl95 that way, afterwards its getting really grindy and will require some upgrades. But until then you dont need to worry about that. Last edited by Orbaal#0435 on Apr 22, 2023, 7:05:19 AM

I was specked into the Searing Exarch but I specked out because I died so many times. Now I'm specked into the Essence, the blight because I rather play blight than expedition and Mirror.
I checked some items yesterday and put them into my build in POB and didn't see much change beside the HP/Chaos res problem. Let's be more specific, for example I see a lot of people even at my lvl anoint the watchtowers into the amulet and purchase the medium and the large jewels for the north part of the tree. Idk if this is a better choice. Maybe someone plays EA and tells me what direction to go, to upgrade, maybe even a specific item that doesn't help me much. I was looking yesterday at a quiver but is 1+ div and for me a lot of money. Thanks again the for help. |

I took a look at your build. There isn't a ton wrong about it and your gear is fairly decent. Apart from the chaos res, your build is much tankier than totem builds I play and I make it to L100 playing solo all the time. Are you playing the build correctly?
1) Place totems in front of you. If there are rooms, put the totems at the entrance and do NOT run into the rooms. 2) Do NOT run/teleport/etc. into packs of monsters or your totems. 3) After totems are placed, focus on not getting hit. EA ballista's main downside is that huge delay before you damage anything (takes time to place totems, totems take time to fire, AND you have to stack up fuses before there's damage), which makes it worse than spell totems. If you aren't good at the dance especially, Elementalist is a poor choice. You are better off with Champion. |

OK, thanks for taking the time to look at the build.
I probably play to aggressive, I will try to learn to use the taunt. I will try to change the quiver and the gloves with + chaos rez to cap it. Beside the chaos res in what direction you think I should go? I tried to put explosive arrow on the helmet but no luck, I need to try again but the lab is so annoying, probably that 40% is huge. |

If you can squeeze out a few points on your passive tree, I would get a medium cluster that has Shrieking Bolts notable on it. It basically turns your totems into taunting totems, which will take some significant heat off you. I'd start by cutting the 2 totem masteries you have as one does fairly little and one does pretty much nothing.
