Default Folder Location Issue
EDIT: Solved
I recently got a new setup and installed PoE as my first game to play (of course). However, there was no folder under '\Documents' to place my filters. I thought this was odd, but sure enough, the in-game "Click to open your filter file folder" button takes me to: " I thought this was odd, but dropped my filters in... they didn't show up... Turns out there are many folders like '\ꂟß', each with a '\My Games\Path of Exile' path. If I delete them, more come back with different names. PoE also seems to select a different folder like this at random. I am new to Windows 11, but the only thing I can think of is I have disabled OneDrive and removed associated folders from my computer. Meaning, 'C:\Users\b_guy\OneDrive\Documents' no longer exists. If that was a default save location, maybe that could be an issue? But I still do not know how to solve it. I do not know what additional information about my PC, log files, etc. should be provided here but I would really appreciate some help! Thank you! Update:
After 2 hours of trying to solve this problem, my hunch was right, it was OneDrive still causing issues. I don't know exactly what it means, but Windows was still "pointing" to the 'OneDrive\Documents' for default saving, a folder that no longer existed. To solve this I: -Reinstalled OneDrive . -Signed in . -Unchecked every sync folder option . -Unlinked this pc (again) -Navigated to the proper '\Documents' folder . -Right click>Properties>Location>Restore Default>Apply -Uninstalled OneDrive (again) It seems to be working for me now. I'll update again if I have any other issues. This probably won't be an issue for most people, I think my problem was that I had reset my '\Desktop' folder similarly to the above steps, but never realized 'Documents' was pointing wrong because the folder existed and was in the right spot. But uninstalling OneDrive before properly setting it locked it in! Sorry for anyone that wasted their time trying to help before I got it sorted, I appreciate it! |
