Crucible forge - item got corrupted with no warning

Item got randomly corrupted with no warning, didn't even know it was a possible outcome, how could I have known?

How can it get corrupted by combining 2 non-corrupted items?

Lost a 50 div item, not sure if this is a bug or just misinformation while combining, but I've combined around 20 items before that and none of them got corrupted.

Some remnants will have a modifier reading "Forged Items are Corrupted with an Implicit".

Are you sure this wasn't what happened to you?

I mean it's possible, I guess this modifier will not appear on the new tree?

How can you know if you automatically do stuff like this, I was working on combining/deleting trees,
Not very intuitive to have to read every single line every time you do this, I just skim through them quickly and might have missed it.

They should add a warning if it's a possible outcome.
It's a modifier to the Primevil Remnant Map Item you use to reach the forge, so no, it won't appear on the passive tree.

While it's not an incredibly frequent bug report, it is something that's catching people off guard a lot, and as a result I do agree that it needs a warning at the forge.

If you're going to do a lot of combining, it may be worth to store Remnants in a stash tab and use the search function to sort out maps with mods like this, as opposed to reading each line yourself.
Yeah, I just walked into this one. Had no idea this mod existed, opened the map, used the forge.. item got corrupted. I thought it was a random rare chance to corrupt the item and I had no idea.

RIP

Fixed it!!

How did you get your maul uncorrupted?
A new base was required, and an allocated crucible tree has higher chances of being applied to the target item.

Could you please explain further? I thought cruicible trees from corrupted items can not be extracted? At least for me it says "Target is corrupted" on the Forge-Button when I try.

the corrupted item is the donor.

recipient(bottom item) isn't.

Primevil Remnants from Igneous Geodes cannot Forge Corrupted or Unique items.

Primordial Remnants from Crystaline Geodes can. However, they're also more difficult, with area levels of 84 instead of 80.

I haven't forged much myself, so I don't know if Primevil Remnant can use a Corrupted item as a donor for a non-Corrupted item, like I believe dorkdude2 is suggesting....but hopefully this extra info helps.
