Isn't this VG build OP? I'm no expert. Yet why is a skill allowed to be elite at everything?

Short Version:

I'm no extreme expert, only played 4 leagues. Yet from a simple mans perspective, WHY SHOULD A BUILD THAT SHOOTS 200 PROJECTILES ALL OVER THE SCREEN, ALSO HAVE SHOTGUN BOSS DPS?? Tanks mobbs too. Why. Seems stupid. & Range ruins party play.

Long Version:
I made a spell totem build. & obviously spell totems don't have good clear speed. So partying with Lightning Arrows players has been annoying, to say the least. I don't understand what's so entertaining about partying with someone who 1 tapps everything from range. Who has similar gear as you, is the same lvl, yet kills everything from farther away with ease.

& I'm like well maybe I'll have better boss dps, as some skills are just good for range clear speed and that's all.

Then I see this Venom Gyre build, which does everything. Has insane clear speed & shotguns bosses?? Why? How would anyone see partying with that fool to be entertaining? I'd hate to party with that Venom Gyre build.

On top of that, that Venon Gyre build is tanky. Smh. It's only Con was " Vulnerable to Chaos dmg " what a joke, tons of builds are vuln to chaos. So essentially nearly zero cons.

Was this VG build nerfed for 3.21?
And on a side note for a similar situation is Lightning Arrow shotgunning bosses, as easily right now for 3.21? Or other bow builds for this league.

I just read the thread; " How is this game playable in melee? " so seems melee are having the same response. Yet I'm playing spell totems. Still even Spectral Helix & many of the other builds listed in that video, RF for example, aren't clearing & shotgunning as extreme as that Venom Gyre build looked.

I suppose everyone tries to aim for a build that is able to do everything, map clear, shotgun bosses, & tank. Just find that seeing a skill that seems to do it soooooooo easily, with little to no talent, just makes me want to uninstall & not finish playing my spell totem build.

& I'm playing Lightning Tendril spell totems, so it's tech nearly a melee build. That's tough to build for AOE clear speed. & if my lightning tendril spell totem build isn't even going to excel for boss shotgun dmg, over these annoying skills that should be limited to clear speed only. Then why bother playing??

Also 2nd amateur ish question, if you enjoy party play and primarily play for party play, & your build happens to not be a zoomer clear map speed build. Then how do you even enjoy mapping with parties?? I even find Bloody Aquaduct at lvl 60+ discouraging, even before mapping, if the skill I use is x4 slower than these map clearers picked skill. Makes me want to uninstall at 60, non the less further parties, where it's really just a " Watch your teammate shoot projectiles, before you even use your own skill, simulator ".

Shouldn't builds that are able to do all 3 get nerfed? Map clear speed, tank everything, & shotgun boss dps. Meh.

For now I don't see a reason to play my lightning tendril spell totem build, even if it was off meta. I built my spell totem heiro with good regen to be tanky, yet seems being tanky is less about tree nodes and more about items, so anyone gets to be tanky enough at the end of the day. Tankyness doesn't seem special enough or node specific enough. & the 2nd option I would play would be melee, so either way this is gonna suck. Esp if I only enjoy party play.

Third Question; So many builds are titled " tank " when they barely grabbed many defense or life nodes. Wth is that about. Maybe items are stupidly too important & the passive tree should be more important. You shouldn't be allowed to be a " tanky build " without half your points spent in defense. This VG build is titled tank for example & he has what 128% life & no armour nodes. Wth. If I was following Reddits beginner advice they'd tell me that's horrible defenses, poor armour %, & pour life%. I've seen many builds like this, some guy grabs no defense nodes, tech is a glass cannon from the passive trees perspective, yet is titled " tanky " just from items alone. I find that lame.

Wouldn't that mean that builds have less to do with what the passive skill tree has aimed at & more to do with what zoomer skill you use to get you to your op gear, that takes care of all your passive trees shortcomings? I'd much prefer a game that makes the passive skill tree more important, than items that give you max block, resist, & 50%+ physical reduction without requiring 150%+ armour nodes >.> " You're not a glass cannon, as long as you're a rich range zoomer skill " No thanks. Should be Tree > Items, half invested points in defense nodes or else you're not even remotely a tank ever no matter your items. With mobs who do more dps to range gem users too.

Yet I don't want this to be a melee thread. Tech my build is spell totems. Yet it's not about that either. Just wondering if people believe this Venom Gyre build is op?

It's one of the better builds, yes. This is how PoE has been for a while - there are the meta builds, and then, there's the rest.

The difference between meta and not meta is massive.

You shouldn't be asking why this skill is so strong, because it isn't. It's just still standing after everything fun has been nerfed into the shit tier. There are more important questions. Why are builds performing worse and still being nerfed? Why does Cyclone have to be zdps and feel like shit to play? With hundreds of skills and that big badass skill tree, why are we forced into "meta or gtfo"?

Incoming, some altoholic casual kid who's going to tell me how every build is viable, and how he got 8 chars to level 50 last season np...
