Tunnel bear pet question

Do tunnel bear take the place of the crawler on delve EVEN if you do not activate the pet but just simply buying the support pack?

" Any chance we could get a cosmetic slot just for the crawler then? I kinda dislike having a pet running around with me, and tend to forget to equip it when I do Delve stuff. Having a slot dedicated for that, would be real great! Plenty of room above the portal slot, in the cosmetics tab for it :) ..or maybe just replace the "Portrait"-slot that's never been used for anything, since it got added?
