Timing out / disconnected upon entering a map
so the issue im having is i will be running a map for a while then the game will time out / disconnect (usually its not a full disconnect my character will freeze in place and my latency will just jump from 68 ms to 5-6k+). i will usually relog at this point, my connection will be perfect in town / hideout but as soon as i try to go back into the map i will time out/disconnect again. usually i will be able to load into the map and start running around only to have the time out happen a few seconds later. at times it seems that the disconnect happens when i reach the same location the issue happened originally.
ill also post a trace i ran. not sure where to go from here |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 387 | 387 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 79 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | No response from host - 100 | 79 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 172.17.3.242 - 0 | 387 | 387 | 10 | 11 | 23 | 11 | | No response from host - 100 | 79 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | HotNet-213-57-1-64.hotnet.net.il - 94 | 83 | 5 | 0 | 11 | 13 | 11 | | HotNet-213-57-1-69.hotnet.net.il - 0 | 387 | 387 | 9 | 11 | 22 | 9 | | HotNet-213-57-1-76.hotnet.net.il - 97 | 81 | 3 | 0 | 17 | 27 | 12 | | HotNet-213-57-1-57.hotnet.net.il - 67 | 107 | 36 | 0 | 77 | 91 | 91 | |ix-be-10.ecore1.fr0-frankfurt.as6453.net - 52 | 129 | 63 | 0 | 78 | 106 | 75 | |if-ae-24-2.tcore1.fr0-frankfurt.as6453.net - 6 | 319 | 301 | 0 | 68 | 90 | 76 | | 195.219.148.122 - 61 | 115 | 45 | 66 | 70 | 85 | 67 | | 172.71.248.3 - 0 | 387 | 387 | 75 | 79 | 167 | 75 | | 172.65.250.221 - 0 | 387 | 387 | 64 | 67 | 78 | 67 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Last bumped on Jul 3, 2024, 6:32:24 AM

You can try different Gateways. The ping that you get on the login screen is an indication of which Gateways are potentially viable but low ping does not imply that its a good Gateway.
(And Frankfurt is one of the bad ones if you did connect to PoE Frankfurt.) No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

i have tried switching servers when it happens (london, milan, paris, amsterdam) but usually it just keeps happening on the other servers as well. i should note this issue happens pretty frequently as in it happens multiple times a day, there will be times where i can run for a few hours just fine without issues and then other times where it just keeps happening. Losing items as was said above only happened to me once on these crashes and i do think i got the disconnected message on that time.
If you say Frankfurt is a bad server is there a better European one to default to? the US servers are like 150-200 ms for me so not viable. |

if the same issue happens on multiple game servers, it's likely the problem is more on your side (and your provider).
what you can do, is pinging the instance you're playing on. the the ip address from ggg's side with a tool (like tcpview from microsoft) and enter the ip in winMTR. when the connection stalls, it should show where the packets stop age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

"Frankfurt has often been mentioned bad in such comments and thats consistent with my own experiences. Its not always the same servers which are better/worse though. London is supposedly also bad but I have very limited personal experience trying it. Also maybe related: Certain evening hours during the day have been rather uplayable for me over the last weeks. Presumably due to the "EU telia routing" problem but there may be some connection that I am unaware of. "Losing items is a server side failure. Instances going away is also a server side thing. So while it may be possible that something can be done on client side as a partial workaround inherently this is a server side problem. Edit: OP apparently wasnt losing instances, it was you. So in OPs case there may indeed be a client side problem also. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle! Last edited by Zrevnur#2026 on Apr 2, 2023, 12:30:54 PM

so the reason i highly doubt this is a client side issue, is that the problems seem to be contained to the instance of the map, i can freely run around my hideout and sell items and such and i can go to blood aqueducts for example and everything is fine, but as soon as i go back into the map i have issues again

" i did post a WINMRT trace in my original post, but im not sure i fully understand how to read it, i think it shows an issue between my ISP and GGG but i am not sure, could you have a look at the trace in the original post and see if you can glean more from it? i can also provide additional traces if required |

it shows that the route your packets take is pretty busy (cause there are packet drops but they're not consistent until the very end). routers tend to drop diagnostic packets if they're on full load already.
if another gameserver isn't solving it there is nothing much you can do age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

WTF but this isn't an issue on ANY other game, software or site
Why does the server close the connection to me? The weirdest part is that on Softcore I got level 100 this league and NEVER experienced this Made a new hardcore character now at level 71 I can't complete the second Lab because 1/4 areas full on DC me when I enter an area. This is so dumb |
