Suggestion to change the Challenge system.
|
Hey guys. I'm someone that always tries to go for 36-38 or even 40 but lately I just realised how pointless it is. Mostly because I joined to the league pretty late and challenges are significantly harder to do this point of the league. No one shares anything and the service prices are just out of this world. This is where I came to the realisation.
People don't do challenges because they like it or it is engaging content. They do it because of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). One of the issue with challenges is that they are either too RNG based or just way too grindy to a point when it is not challenging or hard but just a tediious farm fest. Challenge as a whole lost its magic and epicness. They are not prestigeous anymore. Haven't been for many many years now. The entire league economy revolves around challenge services and boosts. Drives up prices for items and keys for things should not be valuable at all. For example Doryani's Machinarium cost 10 divine for a map which is absolutely not worth it but since it is part of the challenge and people sell 5 ports for 2 divine each it dictates its price. If it was not needed it wouldn't worth more than a couple dozen chaoses. Or lv 100. Just get the 5 ways its safer and guarantee 100. Completely negates its importance. What usually happens is that people get their 20ish challenges on their own or with rotations and such and just buy the rest. It basically kills the point of the whole concept. My suggestion is to make it significantly easier (no rng base or hundreds of hours of playtime required) BUT SSF only. What do you say? Maybe you have some other idea to elevate this? Share it. Okay let's make them less rng BUT make all of them solo only. No challenges trading anymore. This is so cringe when someone is tryharding one challenge (boss related) but here comes one unskilled player, pay a price and he gets it wtf

They won't do it, challenges drive their own economy in a league and its a benefit to make them grindy and obtuse as well as ensuring people can scum them by buying completion.
I would vastly prefer SSF challenges, I just think its unrealistic. Just making challenges non-tradeable would remove 40/40 from a substantial number of players I could easily believe it would be over half. It would also make it borderline impossible on HC you would need to be a complete chad. I'm OK with having challenges I can't complete that better players can, but you would find many players established in their 40/40 groove wouldn't be happy to accept that. Making them easier would be a tradeoff but also wouldn't really help retention, I can't really see what they would gain in the long run. |

I'm pretty sure if they weighted the game to SSF then most the community would play SSF.

" But isn't that true for the entire game? " Well, then they would have to balance the game for SSF though, no? Also, I agree with Xzorn, I guess that if that would happen, most people would play SSF. Which isn't a bad thing, just... different. Might even entice me to come back to PoE. Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

Both Kalandra and Sanctum had significant easier challenges compared to some of the past leagues.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

" This is not the point of the topic though. |

Personally, I liked the Sanctum challenges, seemed "solo" friendly enough to me.
No ubers required, conditional ones were ok, even EGG was good for solo - got 5/4 on it. The only issue was that not all builds can do Sanctums efficiently, I had to re-roll a few times. Also "Cosmically Challenging Crucible", in specially the part with "The Feared" with 80% IIQ, is quite expensive to run, and not all builds can do it. " " So what else is it about? Cause you clearly ask for easier challenges, which we already have since a couple of a few leagues. But I mean 40/40 is supposed to be more grindy and "rewarding". Also keep you busy for a longer time, henced leagues last 3 months so everyone has time to get them done if they really want to. Even late starter have more than enough time to finish them off cause you need less than an entire month of casual gameplay. About 60% complete itself by simply playing the game and the other 40% are either a bit of a grind or more out of the way of the normal gameplay (league specific stuff or random kill conditions for boss fights) It's just a hit or miss if you don't manage to get them done after joining in late into the league. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on Mar 23, 2023, 5:48:27 PM
