Elemental Proliferation and Frost Shield
Main Issue: Elemental Proliferation says it "Supports any skill that hits enemies, or could otherwise apply elemental ailments". I would expect Frost Shield to proliferate its chill beyond its usual borders with Elemental Proliferation.
I realize not all support gems apply all of their effects to any given skill gem, but usually the descriptive text attempts to clear up those interactions, at least at a broad level. The Elemental Proliferation description here, however, seems wide open for Frost Shield, even though it doesn't hit, i.e. "Enemies in the area are chilled" per the wording. Honestly, I actually think that whether this is intended or not, it should be changed, so it's an alternative to Area Of Effect support. This is a slightly different take on that approach, isn't game-breakingly complicated at all, and just adds to the other things to try. Thanks! " "or could otherwise apply elemental ailments", per my original message. |

It is the code thing......i think Mark_GGG has stated why chill aura is not working with a lot of support

Yeah, hmm... I know what you're getting at, as maybe an updated Elemental Proliferation description would explain this shouldn't work, *but* this isn't an aura so I don't think the issue explained by Mark would apply at the moment, at least not for that reason. Maybe it's a similar issue, but it shouldn't be the same one based on his description.
Good link though. UPDATE: I re-read it and maybe it does apply here, but for a different reason. Maybe his point about it being an aura is really that anything that implicitly causes the effect but does "apply" it but doesn't hit is actually not supported and that the gem should really not have anything but "hit" in the description. That said, PoE's language is very particular and he uses "apply" very specifically in that, but that isn't documented as to what applies an effect vs what doesn't, so hopefully that language will eventually be documented by the team and/or standardized so it's clean. UPDATE2: That post also has an image showing Ele Prolif does *not* apply to Skitterbots per the in-game check, but it does work with Frost Shield per my checking, so the issue remains open as far as I'm concerned. It has a radius. It is effectively coded as aura, even it has no aura tag.....
