UExarch Balls

Hi all,

Just a very simple question. How the hell are UExarch's balls dealing THAT much damage ?

According to poedb, if I'm not mistaking abilities, one ball deals from 7571 to 11356 fire damage. With 90% fire res it's then around 1.1k damage at most. With Spell Suppression it would be ~550. With some penetration (let's say 10%) it would be twice as much, around 2.2k damage. But in game, each deals to me around 3.5k damage.

So what am I missing, what's the deal with this ability ?

Disclaimer: I am not sure about any of the following. Just guessing this based on other experiments/knowledge.

1. You probably need to multiply with 1.7.
2. Spell suppression probably does not apply.

=>

avg damage is 9463,5
*1.7 = 16087,95
reversed *3.5k = 0,217554132

So this would suggest 12% fire pen if you have 90% fire resist.

Also maybe possible that your 3.5k is somewhat off and its just 10% penetration.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Yeah Spell Suppr doesn't apply, I'm pretty sure of it aswell.

But the pen hypothesis feels wrong to me, as I tried a divine flesh setup to work around some potential penetration, and even with 86% chaos res I was getting shredded to pieces like I had no defenses.

My setup is able to tank USirus Meteor Slam with 0 problem, UShaper balls aren't that scary either (although those still hurt a bit ngl), Even UMaven flameballs are very tankable, despite those dealing an ENORMOUS amount of damage on paper (13k to 19k fire damage with 30% pen, but spell suppr apply on this I'm pretty sure).

Is there actually a way to get somewhat tanky against those balls other than jugg/trans/ED ? I hardly see one.

Its a generic multiplier that (far as I know) applies to all unique mob damages. And poedb (probably correctly in this case, IME better do not trust all it says) states that its not included in those numbers:

Mageblood + enkindled/alchemist fire flask would help a lot I guess... If it has penetration there are other obvious ways (like you tried) but I dont know if it has penetration.

Are you debuffed with the extra -5 max fire resist from walking over the fire grates perhaps?
Ok after some testing I can guarantee it has pen. A simple test with Eyes of the greatwolf talisman confirmed it for me, with 90% light res and full fire taken as lightning, balls were pretty much zdps. From my testing it appears to have 20% fire penetration, maybe a bit more as it's what fit the damage I took considering a perfect maximum roll on the ball damage.
