Can have up to 3 crafted modifiers - is it worth it?

I have a staff which I would like to add the "upto 3 crafted mods" on but, at what cost? I just fought hard through the putrid cloister map, spent about 150 jeweller's to get 6 sockets, 50 chrom's to get the colours I require and now I find it will cost me 2 divines to use the multi mod.

2 divines?

I assume the the powers that be know that, due to the pricing war they started by basically swapping the divine and the exalted orbs, this means it would cost, at current market rates, the equivalent of 520 chaos just to use the mod?

What is the point of the game anymore, the rich get richer? The cheats are tops now, the people that have 200 divines in a league that has only been going for 2 days for example, all the fun has gone out of the game now, there aren't even any decent drops until you get to red maps now, insert the Mavern and add Kitava to a tier 1 map and - game over! I still cannot defeat Kitava even at level 85, what's the point?

It's off to pastures new for me, this game belongs to the people who know how to give themselves endless currency from hour one, those that descend to level 4000 in the mine on day one.

yes I get to level 90 without to much sweat but I want to complete all the maps and the game within the time frame without resorting to cheating so maybe, after just 8 years and thousands from my pension, this is the wrong game for me now?

The people with "200 divines in 2 days" aren't cheating, they just aren't SLEEPING. They likely play more in those 2 days than you play in a month. And their game knowledge/efficiency is much higher than yours. That's how they are getting there.

Metamods like 3 Crafted aren't just for the rich but you certainly cannot just throw them on trash gear that isn't worth anything.

As to whether they are "worth it" the market determines their worth. The reason divines are so expensive is because the market has pegged them to that 520 chaos value given the current demand for them and the current supply of divines. Metamods are the vast majority of the use for divines at the moment so if they were not "worth it" divines simply wouldn't be worth as much.

Look at Exalts. Why are they like 20c now but 10 times that in past leagues? Because without them being a cost to metamods, they are not worth anything.
Mmm, I suppose when you look at it like that then the people who play for 150 hours in 2 days deserve the divines. I still don't see why the metamods cost so much but I'm not going to worry about it anymore which is why I play other games more and more often now.
Crafting has been an ever increasing gap on sanity and insanity.

We started with picking up Astral Plate throwing an Alch and see what happens. Now get specific base, 2 affix beast split to keep an influence roll then add another influence roll, double with Dom roll, Sythn rolls with 3 Implicates flying into multi mirror gear where it's easily worth the metacraft.

Hell, I probably missed some options because there's so many. Double Yield? Whatever. It's dumb.

the first thing you described is too rudimentary and current system is far too convoluted of a mess.

i'd say axe all that superfluous shit such as veiled modifiers, awakener's orb, elevated mods, yada yada yada. And instead give us more control over mods themselves, most notably bring back independent reroll prefix / reroll suffix.

I mean that was crafting in PoE back in 2013-14. There could be more steps of course with Alts and Exalts but the gap was much smaller between Alch and see and using other methods.

There were no game mechanics to craft with. It was all orbs. As a plus picking up items wasn't a total waste of time either. I'm not a fan of all the crafting content myself.

Crafting should be part of content. Not the content itself.
