Immunity to cold / lightning damage
Hey as the title says, im looking into immunity to cold / lightning damage.
The idea is: -Lethal pride - Tempered war notable (50% cold / lightning turned into fire dmg) -Dawnbreaker shield - 20% cold / lightning taken as fire -Eternal Damnation amulet, Gain additional Elemental Damage Reduction equal to half your Chaos Resistance, the idea is to be at, lets say, 70% chaos resist, so youll have a reduction equal to 35%. What im not quite sure about, is if i got this right. Will i remove 20+50+35 = 105% of the cold / lightning damage ill encounter, both hits and damage over time from those two elements? Can somebody smarter than a pleb like myself, confirm or deny it. If im mistaken, please fell free to explain why in great detail. - Feel free to pm me / or post your answer here !! An example, assuming you don't have any other defences:
Someone deals you 100 cold damage. Tempered by War + Dawnbreaker make you take it as 70 fire and 30 cold damage. Eternal Damnation reduces it to 45 fire and 19 cold damage. All the stuff mentioned affect hit damage and DoT. |

Damage reduction and damage taken as are two separate steps in damage calculation. As MonaHuna stated, you'll first determine what types of damage you take, and then mitigate each type. As a consequence the numerical values don't sum up.
The only two ways for cold/lightning immunity are: - Lethal Pride with Tempered by War + Immortal Flesh from the Mahuxotl's Machination ultimatum shield (as you can't have both Lethal Pride and Glorious Vanity) - Lethal Pride with Tempered by War + 20% Dawnbreaker + Purity of Fire-modded Sublime Vision (50%+30%+20%). Both have significant drawbacks: the former has no regen, no effective ES, and requires to max both fire and chaos res to be worth it; while the latter disables all auras save Purity of fire. Pick the one that fits your build the best ! |

That would be Divine Flesh as Immortal Flesh is a belt. :)
"Immunity" would be a bit misleading as you aren't immune, you just take all the cold/lightning as something else. So you could ignore cold/lightning res but you are still taking damage, just other kinds of damage. |

Hey guys !
Thanks so much for all of your info, its been a huge help. So far ive concluded that tempered by war + dawnbreaker + eternal damnation, seems like solid options, simply to mitigate so much of the cold / lightning / phys dmg. My idea is something like this: -Go with Juggernaut -Use tempered by war & dawnbreaker & eternal damnation -Use forbidden flesh /flame to get tasalio (to mitigate 20% phys as fire), which combined with dawnbreaker (if its max rolled), will give me 40% of the phys damage taken, as fire damage taken instead. - Ill use determination too, to get some armour, bc 8% of my armour will work towards minimizing elemental dmg taken (juggernaut ascendancy). Then use the mod: 5% of phys taken as fire / lightning, to mitigate 50% of incomming phys dmg, so ill take it as fire. Then ill go for 70chaos resist, go with Eternal damnation, to even further mitigate elemental dmg taken, and on top of that use arctic armour to take less fire dmg / phys dmg. The less fire dmg will help a ton bc most of my lightning / cold dmg taken will be turned into fire dmg taken. My overall plan is to design a really tanky juggernaut, probably RF. Sorry for the ramble, anybody that wanna comment on my plan, i would love to get other ppls take on it :) |

Don't get Phys taken as Lightning. Remember, taken as can only flip once. If you take it as lightning, that damage will stay as lightning (and kill you).

" The as lightning was in a scenario where id only use dawnbreaker, tempered by war and eternal damnation, so ill be capped in lightning dmg |
