Is Sanctum playable with a slow play style
|
Watching twitch streamers i know most people play the game in a huge speed - jump, jump, shoot, next room, boom boom pow pow. I however like to play in a style where i explore each loot for a bit, take my time, chill, probably completing an atlas map in 15-20 mins, havent been around for a while now so just wondering if this is the time to get back into the game, does Sanctum support this play syle , from the sounds of it it requires the speedy pow shoot jump jump style instead?

try it out...you will either love or hate the sanctum mechanic. i personally hate it but the rest of the game is still fun to play especially if you skipped a few leagues

Definitely doable. If you don't play totems/minions though, you'll need some mechanical skill to dodge attacks (not that hard as Sanctum mobs don't have super fast attacks unless you get afflictions that make them super fast).

Feels about 50/50 to me. Sanctum kinda supports this play style, it's quite chill-feeling and many rooms can be taken slowly, one or two guards at a time. But on the other hand, it's super DPS or reaction time limited in fights, constant guard fights and occasional bosses. Since the Resolve mechanic doesn't let you spec into tanking damage, you have to avoid it or kill everything before it damages you.
Seems to me by around 5-10 million DPS, most things aren't a threat any more for casual runs through. Before that, reaction time matters. Lots of dodge (movement skill) and circle strafe. There are a few sanctum rooms with stationary (skull) cannons shooting tracking rotating death beams, usually slow, sometimes not, usually fair, sometimes not. Those aren't particularly relaxing, and some are horribly unsporting, and though you can often avoid those rooms entirely, sometimes you end up in one without choosing to. |
