Shield swap usefull? Saffels vs Dawnbreaker
I read at Pohx site that he prefers Dawnbreaker over Saffel untill 40-50k armour.
Just out of curiosity i compared both on my RF Jugg and (as always) got confused. Although my overall Hitpool is bigger, i only gain +2k phys max hit while i lose combined -59k Ele max hit. On Top -4% all ele resistance. And then there is the reducing Block chance due to fire damage taken. So i wonder if Dawnbreaker is really an upgrade since i always take fire damage (Shield + RF) Strangely enough my time to death wents up from 68 sec to 81 sec. Clueless. Should id do it or not? Only 4% of PoENinja RF Jugg builds use it. 32% use Saffel. ![]() Im bad at math. Last edited by LoTharios#3338 on Jan 28, 2023, 8:14:17 AM Last bumped on Jan 28, 2023, 2:53:47 PM

From what I have read and seen on Pohx's vids/Twitch, DB performs batter at higher armour values.
I think you are thinking too hard and not playing enough :) ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

Your right.
But i always wanna know. At the same time, i play a lot. Too much according to my GF. I rate my GF time at 5 div/hour ;) Im bad at math. Last edited by LoTharios#3338 on Jan 28, 2023, 8:47:32 AM

As a point of clarification, RF damage does not count against the shield because the shield's penalty is only from hits.

I have now run a few maps and some delve and there is a noticeable difference.
Although the lifebar flickers more permanently, it is significantly smaller impact than before. While before the larger deflections took some time to be replenished by the life gen, i am now almost immediately back to full life. As a result, it feels smoother. And it's only a 20c shield. I only suspect that it could get a little dicey if fire and physical hit at the same time. Will probably respec for +1 max fire resistance and a better shield. tbc Im bad at math.
