Shrieker Damage and something I don't understand

Hi,

So as you can see, I am at the moment Level 92 with 75% max elemental resists (110 Fire, 88 Cold, 89 Lightning) and 46% Chaos resist.
Additionally, my Spell Damage Suppression is at 61%.

Now I have the problem that when I get hit by shriekers, I am literally instant dead. I don't really have any other problems with mobs, am at 109/115 Atlas (Just some Unique maps missing), but these bats are a pure annoyance.

Even when just playing in Delve with around lvl 75 Mobs: One pack of shriekers and I am dead.

What damage exactly are they doing? And how to avoid it? Outside it is easier, but especially in the narrow delve areas, it is very difficult to avoid them.

I am playing SSF, so if you have any advices, please take this into account.

Those bats deal purely lightning dmg combined with a flat 20% chance to shock.

Spell block, ailment immunity, shock avoidance, spell dodge and stuff like that will help to survive encounters.


Bottom line is that you will end up shocked, multiplying the dmg taken and thus kill you quickly, unless you can handle shock or manually dodge hits.

With lightening I knew, hence I was wondering about the amount of damage I receive with my resistences, but I didn't take into account Shock.

I will play around a bit with Soul of Garukhan then and see if that helps a bit.

Orbaal's covered it but the simple truth is Shriekers are one of the only mob types that actually hits the player most of the time, it makes them stand out as if they do giga damage but its just that their attack is very fast and reliable (quick action cone attack basically).

They are a pain but you can gear them into irrelevance mostly

And since it's a spell, getting spell suppression to 100% will half their damage as well, but I know it isn't necessarily easy to get 100% on ssf quickly, but you will get there eventually. It's also fairly easy to get 100% shock immunity. You can craft this on belt and boots with essence of torment, or craft it on abyss jewels with harvest. This in combination with Stormshroud jewel will give you 100% to all elemental ailments, but Stormshroud is very rare so probably not something you will get your hands on in ssf unless lucky.
