Double Emberwake Math Check
|
I'm trying to figure out if two Emberwakes could be a viable setup.
The relevant stats are: +1 Ignite on enemies 30%-40% increased fire damage 40% less burning damage If my math is correct, with two min-rolled Emberwakes this should come out to: 3 * 1.6 * 0.6 * 0.6 = 1.728 And with two max-rolled Emberwakes it should come out to: 3 * 1.8 * 0.6 * 0.6 = 1.944 So 72.8% and 94.4% higher damage with ignites respectively. Is that correct? Would that be worth dedicating both ring slots to? Last bumped on Jan 17, 2023, 4:53:10 PM

The 30-40% is increased damage, not more damage. The problem here is that the increased damage is additive with all other sources of increased damage you have. Now on an ignite build, that 30-40% is still fairly significant as ailment builds tend to struggle getting increased damage but it is still not nearly as significant as you would hope.
Personal opinion is that 1 can be worth it. 2 is not worth it. Don't forget that with 2, you've also gave up both ring slots that could've had other boosts. |

So is my calculation right or wrong? The 30-40% bonuses add up to 1.6 and 1.8 multipliers respectively (I'm ignoring any other source of increased damage). And the 3 in the beginning is because I can apply 3 ignites, so my base damage should just be tripled, before any modifiers are applied.

If you have ZERO other increased damage on your build your math is fine. The problem is even an average amount (which if you don't have your build will suck hard) vastly skews your math to the point where it is completely wrong.

" Your calculation isn't wrong, but it is misleading because it ignores other sources of increased damage, and because it doesn't account for opportunity cost: the other stats you could have instead by equipping other rings. For the stats more-or-less unique to Emberwake, you have +1 ignite, +ignite chance, and less ignite damage. 2 * 0.6 = 1.2 3 * 0.6 * 0.6 = 1.08 A Deafening Essence of Anger can give a ring 31-34% increased fire damage, while an Essence of Delirium can give a ring +12-15% to damage over time multiplier. Dropping either essence on a ring could also net you a Cast Speed modifier stronger than the one on Emberwake. This would give you a ring with similar power, without lowering your damage with 40% less burning damage, with 4 other affixes (5 if you don't care about the cast speed) and even space for influenced modifiers. So, I'm seconding this: " Last edited by Jadian#0111 on Jan 17, 2023, 4:54:23 PM
