Incorrect? life loss with Progenesis and Petrified Blood
I seem to be taking more damage from Heartbound Loop + Forbidden Rite than I should with both Progenesis and Petrified Blood active.
I tested this by swapping to a weapon with the Essence of Insanity mod, then swapping back to trigger both Heartbound Loop and a level 11 Forbidden Rite linked with Cast when Damage Taken. This should cause me to take 1576 damage from Forbidden Rite from my 3938 life, increased to 1780 by my negative 13% chaos resistance, and 1050 damage from Heartbound since I have no armor (totaling 2830 damage). Progenesis should then prevent 33.75% of the life loss (955) from that damage as I have 35% increased flask effect from my passive tree. My 36% quality anomalous Petrified Blood should then prevent 49% of the remaining life loss (918), for a total of 957 life loss taken upfront. However, when testing this in-game (using a Dissolution of the Flesh to accurately record how much life is lost), 968 life was reserved. This discrepancy holds true even at different life totals and increased flask effects, with the in-game life loss always being 1-3% higher than the expected amount. I would appreciate any insight into why the numbers in-game are different from the numbers I get from doing the calculations by hand, or anything that I missed while doing the calculations. If I assume the Progenesis flask effect is integer based (drops anything below the decimal point) and use 33% instead of 33.75%, it seems to check out with the damage rounded up.
Would this also explain the difference for your other calculations? |

I feel that i take more damage with Progenesis.
Its triggered by by visual lifepool fluctuations that are larger than without. Tested it few times in same white T16 map. I can stand 100% relaxed in front of boss without Progenesis. When i use it, i get nervous a few times. Atm i only use it cause i spend 30 div. Felt safer with Taste of hate. But im special, so idk Thats my setup Im bad at math. That does seem to work out with this example, (and does seem to be what's happening in the game). However, there does seem to be something else I am missing with my math.
I ran the exact same setup as before, but this time with an additional 38% flask effect In this case, Progenesis should take 43% (rounded down from 43.25%) of the life loss (1130), and Petrified Blood should still take 49% of the remainder (734), leaving 762 life loss up front. However, in-game this results in 764 life being reserved. This is a fairly small discrepancy, and probably no longer what is causing my issue, but I am still curious. |

" If you do not have either 25% recoup, or enough recovery to ignore the life loss taken over 4 seconds, then progenesis won't increase your survivability at all. Additionally, if you have any es, then progenesis won't interact with that, as it only affects life loss. Something else to note is that the globe in-game is a very poor indicator of how much life you actually have, especially if you are taking and regaining lots of hp, which is why I was using a dissolution of the flesh to get accurate numbers. |

Great tip. Never heard of that jewel.
My life regen is 1.680 and 3.111 every 4 sec because i use 2 surging vitality. I also habe 14% recoup. But i have only 3.7k life, so i need that puffer. Will test that jewel definitly out. Thx man edit: just watched a video, doesnt work with RF because of the degen Im bad at math. Last edited by LoTharios#3338 on Jan 14, 2023, 4:21:56 PM
