3.20 Molten Shell and Life leech support question

I was planning on running molten shell with life leech support on a cast when stunned. But looking at life leech support it shows molten shell as a gem it does not support. Is that because it's reading molten shell as a guard skill? Does the reflect damage still work alongside life leech or are they both just actually incompatible? Read a few mixed responses on different forums, and they were all a few years old so I don't know if something's been changed since then compared to now. Thanks for any advice!

You can't leech with reflected damage.
