Smite broken after the attack speed fix
https://streamable.com/5vys1w
It's hard to describe what is necessarily the issue especially as in a video it might not look like anything is particularly wrong but its very broken. The Animation no longer lines up with the attack or its damage time at all. Animation Cancelling now seems to cause some desync or at the very least makes you teleport a short distance. You can Animation Cancel with it way more than should be possible and this might also be part of what is causing it to bug. Again it's hard to describe what exactly is broken but I used this skill a bit before Sanctum release, did not use it until after it was fixed and something was immediately off to me, without even a second of hesitation. Just attacking with it and then comparing it with over strike skills, even ones with the same attack speed base, there is a night and day difference in how they feel, the responsiveness of movement, the delay from animation end to the actual damage occuring. It is just very obvious when you are using the skills. While I don't want to speculate too much as to the cause of this as I don't know how the development works or if this assumption is correct, I believe that somewhere during the developing of the Vaal Version of this skill, something was probably broken along the way. Its an old skill and probably something was changed while giving it a Vaal Version that then broke a part of the skill that wouldn't normally be accounted for. This was then probably washed over by just speeding up the animation with the expectation that it would still be functionally the same, but instead it caused Smite to attack way faster than intended. This then got reverted but the fundamental bug that emerged was not fixed and that is probably what has caused the jankiness of the skill that is now present. I think if the devs load up a version of this skill from say, 2 leagues ago, and how it is now, the difference will be crystal clear. Edit: Found some footage of the skill from a few patches ago and its very clearly different. The timing of the actual attack landing completely different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-4O0yta0IA&ab_channel=SyrupBuccaneer Last edited by DiceeciD#2167 on Dec 11, 2022, 6:24:45 AM Last bumped on Dec 26, 2022, 3:40:23 PM

I just wanted to second this. Something feels off about smite. Don't know what exactly but it seems to deal way less damage than tooltip/PoB would suggest.
PoB shows 300k DPS (Tooltip shows around 120k), and it just doesn't feel like that at all in high whites/early yellows. And just to give some more info; I was fighting a delirium boss in a tier 6 map. Needed 10+ attacks to remove its energy shield, before just randomly oneshotting it with the next attack right afterwards. |

Had this same issue and posted about it last night. After I took off all my gear related to smite and re-socketed gems and gear plus restarted my client the animation delay seems to have gone away. There was/is definitely something buggy with the smite animation tho.
I think it's related to the fix that was implemented for the attack speed fix. Before I did the above my char still had the super fast attacking animation but the smite animations it self (the lighting strikes) would happen normally. Resulting in it looking like my char was standing there doing nothing. Seems to be all fix for me now tho. |

Smite is still bugged.
1) Randomly targets corpses sometimes or something that is not even there 2) Multistrike + Smite is bugged. Does 3 slower attacks the the next multistrike seems to be twice as fast? PLEASE REVIEW THIS SKILL as of right now it is inconsistent and unplayable. |
