Armour vs Evasion in the current game
I can put either a Jade flask or Granite flask in my build, not both
Assuming you're just making a general assessment of all the end game bosses combined, and also assume that elemental damage is largely taken care of on the character, which is better: 1) Granite flask: 76% physical damage reduced 28% chance to evade 2) Jade flask: 36% physical damage reduced 64% chance to evade attacks I'll keep trying to roll better versions, but so far: Last bumped on Oct 21, 2022, 6:24:40 AM

jade if you have 100% suppression already
granite if you have some armour from your gear/tree and dont have suppression, for physical spells "buff grenades"

Phys damage reduction from armour (unless you know what you are doing) is grossly overestimated. It's not nearly as good as the numbers are making it sound. General rule of thumb is if you are investing a lot, armour is better than evasion. But if you have little to no investment, evasion is better than armour.

It also depends on whether you plan on using molten shell. One of the big selling points of armor and probably the main reason determination is so popular is that you can easily double or tripple your hp pool by getting more armor using molten shell.
For pinnacle/uber bosses, leaving aside MS, both are pretty much equally useless. They are mostly elemental based spells ignoring both armor and evasion. Last edited by Baharoth15#0429 on Oct 20, 2022, 2:57:26 PM

" Not entirely. Each Uber boss actually has at least 1 attack that is coded to "Can't be Evaded." (this is actually to hose spell suppression btw). Armour DOES help with this but evasion is worthless here. My original advice stands though: Armour is mostly worthless if you are low investment (MS will lose to Steelskin in that situation). But it is superior to evasion with at least decent investment. Last edited by TemjinGold#1898 on Oct 20, 2022, 3:05:39 PM

I am aware of that but as you said, half assed armor investment isn't going to do jackshit when you get hit by a 25k damage shaper slam that ignores evasion. That's why i said both are mostly useless against them. Armor can be useful for those fights if you invest a lot and use MS but otherwise it won't matter whether you have 5k or 10k armor.
For mapping i agree that evasion is better for low investment, personally i'd make sure i have at least some phys mitigation of whatever form though. Phys damage is the baseline for like 90% of monster damage during mapping, being weak to it feels horrible. |

" you need at least 30k armor, thats bare minimum for a decent build, that makes your molten shell a good skill and will allow you to take hits from uber bosses when you have it up Last edited by Aetherium#6579 on Oct 21, 2022, 6:25:22 AM
