Does a Bows weapon damage count as projectile damage?

My question concerns the skills Caustic Arrow and Toxic Rain. Both of these say that their Damage over Time is affected by projectile damage. Does that mean that my weapons base damage also effects their DoT?

No, weapon damage only affects the hit part of these skills. And only modifiers (increase/reduce, more/less) to proj damage affect the dot.

weapon damage is just weapon damage. it applies to all attacks made with that weapon, and also applies to toxic rain and caustic arrow since they are attacks.
but, it'll only apply to the hit portion of those skills and not to the dot portion. there's no way to scale those skills' dot damage by getting more weapon damage on your weapon and this is why everyone goes for +3 bows with other mods like chaos damage/chaos damage over time and attack speed "buff grenades"
