After upgrading to Windows10, GPU not getting recognised, client instantly closes

I upgraded windows from 8 to windows 10 a month back. Before the upgrade I was running POE without issues. Installed POE with steam today, then tried the GGG installer. Both fail to launch the client. No directories yet in AppData for POE, but the Program Files/Grinding Gear Games/Path of Exile/logs/Client file keeps outputting

endlessly. In taskmanager, the PathofExile.exe is using CPU, Memory, Disk and Power, but nothing in GPU or GPU Engine.

In NVIDIA Control Panel I applied High Performance NVIDIA Processor as preferred for PathofExile.exe and did a restart. I tried the same for Windows Graphics Settings. There are relatively few programs on my laptop:

sounds like a driver issue to me.

did you install drivers for your display?

The solution turned out to be just disabling Intel HD Graphics in Device Manager.

To be clear, even setting High Performance NVIDIA processor as preferred for PoE under NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Setting > Program Setting did not suffice. Weird problem, but at least I "solved" it.
