Change Chaos Orb Equivalent
|
The current behavior of "Chaos Orb Equivalent" on the trade site is to attempt to guess at equivalency between other currency and chaos orbs. Unfortunately the mechanism for this has been spectacularly poor for years now, particularly when estimating the conversion on less used currencies. I assume this is considered a "hard" problem by devs, and will continue for the foreseeable future.
This conversion problem has led to some other issues over the years with market manipulators and scammers listing items in unusual alternative currencies as a means of either obscuring actual market value, or getting listings with a far higher price higher up the results. In particular, listings in exalted orbs and sextants are both quite popular right now, and these currencies are worth 2-4x what the trade site values them at. Compass and memory markets in particular are completely saturated with this nonsense. To avoid issues like this in the future, I recommend the following new behavior for the "Chaos Orb Equivalent" setting: - Only show listings priced in alt, alch, fuse, chaos, divines, or mirrors. - Only show alt/alch/fuse listings if the chaos equivalent is 2 or less. - Do not show any alt/alch/fuse listings if the search conditions indicate a minimum chaos equivalent of 1 or greater The above change would have produced expected behavior without significant detriment for the past several years now and will heavily diminish the ability of players to manipulate market prices. There may be a small argument for including chisels in the above list, since historically there has been some legitimate basis for pricing maps in chisels, especially early in the league, but I haven't seen that in common practice for quite some time now. Alternately, the above behavior could be added as a new setting and the trade site could remember what I last used. Last bumped on Oct 1, 2022, 3:55:14 PM
