Replica Alberon's Warpath + Zerphi's Heart + Blackflame + Void Manipulation

Hi,

I was playing with PoB and i remembered the Burning Arrow build being fun and strong.

So i made a build using Burning Arrow, and scale the damage with Strength staking (Replica Alberon's Warpath).

I got planty of chaos damage now , i wanted to use Blackflame to make the Ignite make chaos damage instead of fire damage because i use Void Manipulation on the Burning arrow links.

So now i've got lot a chaos damage, my ignite deal chaos damage ; I need Chaos damage to be able to Ignite enemy, so i used Zerphi's Heart to make it possible.

After sometime i buy all the part to make it ; I can ignite enemy so Zerphi's work, but they take no damage from ignite UNLESS i remove Replica Alberon's Warpath.


Why ? Does the conversion from Blackflame is taking Fire damage to chaos broke the interaction ?

My day is ruined :(

Ignite still deals fire damage, it's just that enemies take it as chaos.
So, the initial damage is fire ? But Void manipulation is linked, i don't see any Fire damage on Burning Arrow. Why Ignite deal damage if the fire damage is 0 ?

Is there any workaround to my problem ? I need Fire to chaos conversion ?

Why "Enemies Ignited by you take Chaos Damage instead of Fire Damage from Ignite" and not "Enemies Ignited by you take 100% Fire Damage as of Chaos Damage from Ignite" ?

With Zerphi's Heart initial damage is chaos but ignite is an elemental ailment that causes the affected target to take burning damage (fire damage over time).
I thought Void manipulation would also prevent the ignite, but are you saying it works?

Yeah Burning arrow + Void manipulation + Zerphi's Heart + Blackflame, the ignite work. I don't know why i deal fire damage here ?
If the Blackflame work as Damage Taken as, so the Alberon negate the damage.
But why void manipulation don't prevent the ignite damage ?
Your initial hit has both Elemental and the added Chaos Damage.

Void stops the ele damage from hitting, or causing ignite I believe.

The Chaos damage hits, and ignites because of Zerphis. It then does chaos damage as the ignite because of blackflame, none of which violates void manipulation.

However, Alberon's may be working differently than void, it might stop the ignite all together BEFORE the conversion, and void is working after the conversion?

The most important thing to point out here is that Blackflame does not make your ignite deal chaos damage.

Your ignite still deals fire damage.

The only thing that Blackflame does is make it so that the fire damage your ignite deals is taken as if it were chaos damage by the enemy.

So, if you have anything that keeps you from dealing fire damage (your boots) then your ignites will not deal any damage.

I agree on that, Replica Alberon's prevents ignite damage.

My question is: why doesn't Void Manipulation do the same ? OP seems to say he deals damage with ignite when he takes off the boots, but I don't get why boots and Void Manipulation should behave differently (afaik both should disable damage from ignite).
Yep exactly i get why Alberon disable ignite, but why Void manipulation doesn't do the same ?

I'll try all the possible unique/gem combination later to check where the fudge happen.

On an other note, i thought Ignite duration was reduced by Blackflame, that don't work too. Still 4 seconds or am i missing something again. Same with Replica Emberwake. It's my first time trying to make a 'viable' build on a non-meta skill, the hard part is to know if the behavior of the unique is bugged or i'm just missing a mechanic that's was explain on Reddit in 2016.

So i run some test :

Alberon Warpath prevent you to deal any damage with Ignite
Void Manipulation also prevent any damage from Ignite.
However you can burn enemies with Herald of Ash, i was using it during my test.
Void Manipulation work like Alberon, and the Ignite i saw on the enemy was from Herald of Ash (Herald burning does not work if linked to Void Manipulation)

My build idea was to scale my damage with Alberon AND to reduce the Ignite Duration + Ignite deal damage faster to use the Xoph's Nurture as sustain.

Even with no Void Manipulation AND no Alberon Warpath i was not able to do any Ignite Damage (The monster was Ignited because of the Zerphi's Heart), because of the Ignite Duration, on the wiki it says:

The minimum effective duration of ignite is 300ms / 0.3s, if a application of ignite has a lower duration it does not apply


So the Blackflame + Replica Emberwake make Ignite duration less 140%. My ignite STILL apply to enemies without dealing any damage (No Alberon, no void manipulation) and from my estimation my ignite duration with those two Unique is 2s. I don't know why..


So i thought why not getting to the 0.3s ignite duration to test it. So i take the increased duration on the tree, i get to -110%, and i see the Divergent Increased Duration Support (Supported Skills have 1% increased Duration of Ailments on Enemie), Burning Arrow can't be supported by Increased Duration Support itself so the Alternate Quality don't work at all.. Instead i use Anomalous Burning Damage Support (20/20). On my character sheet i'm at -90% Ignite duration, so if my not wrong that's 0.4s of ignite. My ignite still doesn't do any damage, and for my estimation the duration is still roughly 2 seconds.

I'm a bit lost here, i just wanted to try a Burning Arrow chaos ignite :(


EDIT: I've tried with -70% less Ignite Duration and it's working! The duration seems to be i bit more than a second. I've tried with -85% less duration it work too. Probably between 85% and 90% less duration ignite doesn't work, Mark_GGG said 0.3s with ~10% more/less and larger with lower duration. It's certainly true.

Swift Affliction duration is not calculated on the character sheet but work like it is.

TLDR: Do not mix Ignite with Chaos Damage, and 85% less ignite duration is the max.
