question about awakened lightning penetration support vs awekened added lightning damage support

hello guys!
i have both gems but im unsure on what to use... ive read up that normal lightning penetration support almost always beats over normal added lightning damage support but how is it with the both awekened versions? could not find any explaination about that not even on reddit. also i tried out both gems and feels somehow better with awekened lightning penetration support than with awekened added lightning damage support but both gems are still level 1 ... is awekened added lightning damage support better on level 5 than awekened lightning penetration support?

Most people would just put them in PoB but to cover it real quick

Awakened Added gets +1 lightning skills at level 5 which is usually very relevant and potent.

Awakened Lit Pen gets a chance to inflict exposure which is now trivial to get elsewhere but could be valuable if somehow you don't have it.

That being said its most likely that penetration will outperform added lightning unless you already have a very substantial amount of it. It is also extremely valuable for anything with extra lightning resist. So without modelling it in path of building i'd just put lightning pen in.

Depends on your PoB settings in the config tab.

If you look at dmg vs trashmobs then added dmg will be way better.
But if you change the settings to pinnacle bosses then any sort of penetration will be better, because bosses do have resistences and trashmobs dont.

Yeah Orbaal's covered it there, I always leave PoB on guardians/pinnacle boss which I think is 40% resist. If you leave it on normal it assumes 0 resist which is very unreliable IMO and makes it a nightmare when you get to some overcapped AN cuck or a map boss with endurance charges.

so this brings me to another question then after testing around:
will awakened added lightning damage support ever outscale awakened lightning penetration support? or will awakened penetration just always be better than awakened added lightning in certain circumstances? as said im especially talking about the awakened versions of both gems here and not the normal versions.
