Beyond has the issue of being rather lackluster right now, but to be honest, beyond was absolutely insane before, especially paired with Delirium/Alva. Rather than struggle balancing it all together...
Mechanic tweak: Beyond Portals no longer spawn from monsters. Instead, scattered through the map are a set number of tears in the fabric of reality that spill demons out into the world. Each tear spills out a horde of normal demons, some magic demons, and one rare demon. All tears have a chance to spawn a boss (increased by Torn Veil atlas passive). Torn Veil Notable changed from 30% increased merging radius to +1 tear in maps affected by beyond, increased chance for bosses remains same. That's the basics of it, but if you wanted to take it further... New Atlas Keystone: Veil Rupture: Beyond bosses are now monster level 85. Beyond Bosses Full Power are unleashed, granting them Uber buffs (more life, damage, maybe new mechanics). Uber Beyond Bosses will now drop at least 1 Scourged Unique. This gives us a new thing to farm for, and the potential for rare chase rolls on various unique items. But why stop there? New Unique Map: The Last Stronghold: Fighting alongside The Last to Die npc against waves of beyond demons, ending with Pinnacle boss fight facing all Beyond Bosses at once, perhaps even with mechanics unique to this fight. This map can only drop from Beyond Bosses, OR, we can make these another fragment set map, with the pieces dropping from the bosses out in maps. Veil Rupture Keystone can affect this map's bosses, and if you can manage to defeat the three Uber Beyond Bosses you will get a special reward... The Dream Furnace: An interactable crafting interface that lets you Scourge one item. Only available from the Uber Triple Beyond Boss encounter. Though maybe GGG does a pass on Scourge mods first, but regardless, the Dream Furnace would be a new end game goal to try for, and further end game crafting to sink time/effort/items into. one of the main pb is the new beyodn mobs are
1 boring 2 melee mobs basically just flicker strike on you and do tons of daamge wich is boring old mobs, appear and start blasting everywhere, cold projs, flameblast, fire heads. FUN. fix plz |

I really loved Scourge as a league and I loved old beyond. I hate the current beyond+scourge implementation.
I know Beyond monsters are just act 1-2 monsters with recolor+ red aura that made them look outlandishly fleshy and bloody, but to me they looked and felt more than just outlandish or alien - they were beings from a different dimensions of our own world, that they DID NOT BELONG here because of how physics and reality works here. They were visually fun, fights were cool and awesome, explodies and gibs everywhere! even if the reward was meh. It was also funny to see them emerge from these weird literal tentacle vagina's. Good times. Scourge monsters just don't fit that way. Their lesser imps are very annoying, do a lot of damage, either projectile snipe or leap sprint snipe you for a lot of damage. Too many times I'm having a decent time playing lake of kalandra and just die because I'm surrounded in a split of a second from nothing special. The scourge also aren't so interesting themselves, because you're fighting them normally. What made them cool was fighting them in an alternate universe where everything was ruined and corrupted. They don't belong on normal map tiles, because they are just slightly fleshy boring skeleton dudes. The environment you were fighting them in played a big part in the esthetics. I think all the devs need to do is just replace the outdated old beyond models with the scourge models, (maybe leave the floating brains) add red aura's to them to look bloody fleshy like old beyond, but leave the way they fight as it was. Old beyond is more fun to fight than scourge beyond. Scourge monsters by themselves are bland and boring. |
